The requirement of a shovel to dig/bury things, must of been one of the most awesome changes ever.

Next we'll need a spoon or a fork to eat but that will be dependant on the type of food you are carrying.

Flint and steel + firewood for cooking properly?
How about a glass if thirsty?
A bedroll when you need to sleep?
A saddle to ride?

Is there anyone out there who doesn't love RPing those little fun details?

PS. It's not that a character can't dig with his bare hands, it would take more time.

1) You can eat anything with your hands. Soups and other liquid foods come in bowls, think of them as big spoons.
2) People were drinking out of sacks (like the ones you get at char creation for the ones with the gutter minds) long before they had drinking glasses. There are cups in the game if you seek to do so.
3) Sleeping outside in the dirt is half the fun when sleeping.
4) Bare-back riding is awesome.

Don't punch a gift horse in the mouth or the presents will break and it will kick your [REDACTED].

Having to dig with shovels is a present?

No someone mentioned, wouldn't it be more real if you had to use a shovel to dig then punched the gift horse in the mouth. The horse then dropped the you can dig anywhere outside gift and it broke. Now we are left with digging with shovels.

Which I think is fine.

That surely made me laugh.

As far as the rest of your post, I don't really get the point; Are you trying to explain why we don't need the implementation of spoons?
In SK there should be no spoons but neither shovels.

Cheers.-

I would like to think that someday there would be many varieties of tools and skills that make use of the things that you can do with those tools. Maybe its a precursor to that?

I'd like to see horses able to wear things that can be bought for them. I mean there is horse armor in the game. And plenty of saddles and shoes and other such. Why can you not have your horse wear this nifty stuff. I mean some warriors do dress their horses for battle.

Shovels are a drag, as it is.

I believe there are 3 questions to ask before making a change to a game:

1) Is the change going to add to the enjoyment of the game?

2) Is the change going to disrupt the balance of the game? If so, is there something that can be implemented along with this change in order to set the scales back where they were?

3) Are the up sides of the change good enough to surpass the complications the addition will bring forth as well as any other downsides there are to it?

I don't see shovels covering question 3 much.

The difference between "can" and "have to" comes to mind.

There are still characters that bathe with soap and brush their hair, but most of the SK population (myself inculded) don't actually carry those items on their person all the time. They're more for flavor. People who want to use such items should be allowed to without such ridiculous penalty to the rest of everyone.

Unless spoons and shovels, and every such item implemented weigh a combined total of 1 pound and are size tiny.
