I think that's the problem with it. No one who wants a 40-hour suit can make one, and the benefits for the caster (exp-wise, for instance) are completely the fail and not worth it to do for anyone. I can think of . . . . 3 people, in the history of all the casters I've played that actually wanted to compensate for the time/energy it costs to do a suit. Incidentally, they were people who had played casters.

Does this mean you're not going to enchant my gear?

IMO at the moment, enchant armor sucks balls. Too time consuming, too likely to screw up your armor anyway, and not enough enchanters to go around. I would posit that anyone who actually enjoys the current enchant system has some level of OCD. :P No offense, but seriously. I don't know where you find the patience.

My OOC frustration with enchanting is very evident ICly with my very irritable-while-enchanting mage. She does it, but it's pretty evident that she hates it. And she holds grudges very nicely. You'll just have to see. :P

Learn the items and start with items that start at pretty much what you want to get.

Get a suit that starts with great MP for example or great will, don't start with a suit that starts at 0 enchants or even has MR and you have to fade it first. Then if faded before the desired result, junk, grab the EQ again and start with almost desired enchants.

Now if you want the suit A because it looks nifty and you want phat enchants but it starts at mod MR, then sucks to be you. Spend more energy and time.

Enchant is a very powerful spell, especially for armor, and it should take effort to create a suit of 8+ enchants on each piece and no MR, with great MP on armor pieces and minimal MP on treasures but other saves instead.

Hold a grudge? against me? C'mon! Why wouldn't anyone want to enchant for someone that would probably kill your character for saying no :(

I would agree to making enchanting less laborious and/or random IF enchants were nerfed to not own spellcaster so hard. Cause as it is spellcasters more or less get raped by a fully enchanted suit.

I like the idea of enchanting while blocking one kind of enchantment. Leaving it mostly random but removing the thing you really dont want. c 'Enchant armor' MR.

How ever another option is to add in a new spell or tweak enchanting to remove an enchantment with a high risk of a full fade or explode/evaporate. Each use of this spell would add a level the same way enchanting does now. This would limit using this spell to make the awesome sets of armor. Those who would be willing to sit around and enchant from scratch with no disenchanting would end up with better sets.

While on the subject of enchanting. Id still like to see something done about the level thieves and enchanting if they where to ignore extra levels added via enchanting that would be great. If they where just to ignore enchanting on items after superior quality that would be fine. I mention it here because it would probably be easier to rework how enchanting works than alter level thieves.

As much as I do like this idea, I'm against it. Making suits too easy to get is bad for no only casters, but hybrids as well. Imagine a Hellion trying to hellfire a merc or barb with a l337 set. They'd be made useless. Infact any caster or hybrid going against a melee with a super suit would be useless, especially with all the options of healing available. Any merc / barb can get 23849080423x10^890234th vials of healing brewed if they have the right connections. Pair that with the massive hp and the massively reduced damage they'd be taking..Just..No. That would be too common a thing.

As much as enchanting sucks right now, it should stay as it is.

If the chance to have specific enchants has a greater chance to fade/destroy the item, I do not see why this cannot be changed. Something you can enchant 10 times would have a much higher chance of blowing up at around 5, which means less actual enchantments. So, while a specific suit could be enchanted for pure MP, it leaves them vulnerable to willpower, fortitude and reflexes.
