So, there are a ton of great ideas, I'll list them real quick.

1. Remove logon theives after 40.

2. Front load the stat points

Now those two I think should be top priorities, both would go a long damned way to making GM a goal, rather than something needed. Number three that I'd add to those would be.

3. Treat 40 as 50 for all spell damage/resist calculations.

So now the question is, if you did all three of these things what would be the point of getting Champ/GM? Here is the idea, feel free to discuss it, or other ways you could make Champ/GM meaningful.

The idea is quite simple, allow Champ to mentor to very good, and allow GM to mentor to superb.

This would give a distinct advantage to those that made it to GM, as it would essentially guarantee them mentor points. However, it wouldn't just be ZOMG HERE ARE J00R POINTS SUR, you'd have to at least interact with players to get those points. It's a benefit that would eventually give PK benefits, but definately wouldn't be instant gratification, and would reward the RP side of things well before the PK side kicks in.

Thoughts?

Those two I am 100% for.

Your above post looks good to me, sklz. I'm pretty sure that Dulrik's said that neither will be implemented already though.

I agree with 1 and partially 3. One of the perks of going GM should be more stat points. By then, you should be rping and you could make them up via mentoring. On number 3, I think the bonus should be lowered to where you only get half of what you do now.

This would still give a slight bonus to those wanting to GM and yet not enough where you HAVE to GM.

Remove enchant armor/weapon's effect on the level of an item, and leave the rest for GM priveleges. That means that a master (2) can still use adamantite with only a very moderate risk. For example, I've never had a warrior above Champ (2) and I've never gotten near god-like equipment stolen except once.

The five stat points aren't all that much, considering the master can now wear good stat mods. The thing about spells I'm just flat out against (except in obvious cases, such as necros getting wraiths so late), not much of a difference if you focus on art anyway.

Removing the effect that enchant armor/weapon has on items, rather than removing login-thieves totally, lets GMs keep a certain number of powerful items/devices, while the average master will certainly be able to save adequately against them because he can now enchant his suit.

This gives the incentive to level to GM, but still lets masters be powerful enough to actually be a factor on the PK scene.

A suggestion that has been repeatedly made, Konge, twice by me yesterday if I'm not misremembering. At least once, anyways.

D completely ignored it. Maybe you'll have better luck.

Skllz. Good ideas. Again. Unfortunately, I wouldn't advocate holding one's breath to see any real changes to champ or GM.

I don't know. Either you guys overestimate the ability to actually get mentor points, or I'm bugged. I've mentored quite a bit on my character, and I consider what I have been able to do to be quite a feat considering how few skills my class (swashbuckler) actually has. I have yet to get a single mentor point. Even on Vlad. I only got one over the course of constantly helping young warriors train their skills. Doing that and getting them newb gear was about all I was good for aside from the occasional spam bash in a group.

The bar seems to be just a bit too high for this to be the reward of getting to GM. I wouldn't even bother if all three things were implemented.

I get literally tonnes of mentor points. It takes a LOT more than just typing teach <skill/spell> <character> 0.

It must be you gremlin. Every single char that I took to champ+ and stuck with for a while, got at least 5+mentor pts.

Gremlin it could also be the fact that the mentor system is stacked for both light and grey auras. There are few darkies that you can actually mentor to the level that you would need to get the bonus mentor points. Because of your affiliations, you'd be limited to who and where you could mentor. To be more specific if you are in Krychire or Menegroth you rarely will get mentor calls because few people actually start in these areas. They will have learned what they need to know before they seek coming into the north or east, generally speaking.
