1. How exactly do you earn deeds or whatever?
Whenever imms hold events, they spawn monsters, then quests are provided to go slay them! Monster(s) respawn when killed and everyone can make their own groups to have a go for the whole weekend. Need at least expert to take the quest. This is one way to gain deeds. More ideas are obviously needed.

Yeah some of us have lives and work unsociable hours. And the one time I was around for a GRP there was no incentive to actually go do it, and the prompting from the NPCs was horrible and terribly vague at best. I think four of us went to look and decided it wasn't worth the trouble. So that is a horrible way to earn your deeds.

I think it should work like this and we'll be general. Lets say a character has 10's full board. at 1/2 his physicals all go -1, and his mentals all +1. Even if his cap was 10, it's now 11. OR the counter offer would be at the age tic, he gains his -1's to physical stats and then gains 3 points to put in his newly increased cap for mental abilities. You could of course put it back into a physical stat if it wasn't maxed. (The idea being you're no longer the bulky fighter who crushes with your blows but have become more charismatic and even with age nimble.)

As it stands, age tics seem like penalties for keeping a character.

I agree that the int/wis bonuses should be available at the same rate that physical stats are lost. I also agree that either the stats points should be returned and trainable or immediately increase the int/wis stat by the same amount the str/dex stat is decreased.

Age-tics have really pulled a number on my character.

It makes me not want to play SK. The only character I want to be, presently, is Inzaarid. The aging code and the armor penalty to range code pulled a double whammy on me--

I would love to be able to spec in something different, then, because you just can't run around in light armor when you're HP pool is comparable to a mentor-level rogue's.

FFS. Make aging worth it.
I'm begging you.

The idea that mod-able stat points, late in the aging process, balances the loss of the phys stats, early in the aging process, is pretty laughable.

Best comment on that thread.

I tend to play most of my chars till they age die. All i get from their aging is a more and more bitter taste as they cannot wear their armor, wield their weapon, take a 2 round pounding and live and so on...

Yet people like to see elder chars around, and I for one like to have such chars. It promotes roleplaying.

So please please please.... Make it worth it!!! :-?

I'm not sure how I could "make it worth it", without compromising the intent of the system. In most games, the same characters dominate the game 10 years after they created because they never die and they are perpetually at the peak of their abilities.

I like the idea that older characters are wizened caretakers overseeing the new up-and-coming strong players from a position of leadership - i.e. their power is gained by the strength they had in their prime and hopefully maintained through politics and RP when they pass their prime (hence leadership, or perhaps notoriety / fame / etc).

Age-death is not popular but it promotes a more realisitic feel to the world. You can not hold your peak position forever. Some races get more time, but eventually death takes us all and makes room for the next generation to assume leadership. As it is, the majority of people get to GM and get tired of their character and delete before they even hit the first age marker. So I don't see the age system even being a current problem in regards to character retention.

I think this would be a large step to take away some of the bitterness of aging without keeping aging characters overtly powerful.

Just add skills that can only be attained if they both have spent the time in the game and the appropriate age ticks.
