Uhm, yeah no. I use all manner of "modern" profanity, have over several characters. "C$*%sucker" and "Cu*#" might not be appropriate, but I definitely think arse, bish, and shite have their place.

Of course, you are free to ask anyone who's known any of my characters (especially darkies) . . . I pepper my profanities with plenty of IC/olden hilarity in insult.

I seriously hate when people use 'f*ck'. It makes me picture them in some baggy jeans with a brooklyn accent while im sitting in my armor frowning.

You're skewing modern profanities with your examples there: so one could argue that the slang versions you're using lessen the impact based on a 'more IC' flavor of their equivalents.

So while 'arse' and 'shite' may sound a bit aussie/irish to some, I can see that it may also come across as a medieval forerunner to the current slang.

But '[REDACTED]', '[REDACTED]' and 'sh*t' are current day and I personally don't see why any given player can't come up with in-theme alternatives. The other examples mentioned above have no place whatsoever.

I think you're missing the point of her using "arse" or "shite" on the forums. She likely did it, and not "[REDACTED]" or "sh*t" because you've been such a freak about swearing on the forums lately. Knowing her, and a few of her characters, she does indeed use "[REDACTED]" or "b*tch" and does so in such a way that it doesn't take too much from the game.

Actually, Alshain, those are all pretty old ones. Arse is debatable, but I'm pretty sure that people have been suggesting that women resemble canines for a long, long time--and you can bet that poop has been around even longer.

:D I love you sometimes. Spot on.

B*tch . . . have you ever heard it used as a verb? I'm sure it's been going on for a long while, and that's where I'm going to say usage as a slang against females came from. A nagging, whining [REDACTED]. Kinda like you, Alshain, in regards to me saying b*tch on the forums.

B*tch.

Now I'm sad, because I do believe arse and shite are a lot better terms to use in the game than [REDACTED] and sh*t. This is one of the reasons why I originally associated the SK get together with a Renfaire. There is plenty of cursing by fair workers, but they don't use modern words because it would break the illusion. You shouldn't use them for the same reason.
