You can use a one hand weapon and throw daggers too.

Then the NPCs that you threw the daggers at wield them and tear you to shreds. Throwing weapons are not much good for levelling.

I learned this the hard way :(

You're not the only one.

Heck, with NPCs throwing stuff now. I don't see the problem anymore.

Admittedly, it has been a while since I've leveld any character, so maybe that argument is invalid. I know they still throw things, and it is at least irritating. :P

There are two major problems with this Achernar. While sling stones are a decent alternative, the biggest problem with them is the damage numbers aren't really there. Second, is weight. While each stone isn't very heavy, getting enough of them does add up. Also, while you do get experience for cure light, armor, and bless, it usually (if not always) isn't enough to offset the resting period that most light/heavy armor classes aren't affected by. (Afterall, they just keep griding, where you have to rest to refresh your mana)

Don't get me wrong. I'm not demanding they be implemented into the game. In the end, that decision is yours. I am arguing though that, perhaps the most important class in the game, has one of the hardest times to level, only to be treated like a [REDACTED] for the rest of their leveled life... It'll be interesting to see how many priests we have in a year or two, after the newness of the religious spells has worn off...

The main problem I can see is with darkie priests. I would think that lighties could easily level via cure light on undead, a strategy that would even work for graybies to some extent. Considering that lighties already get something of an advantage over darkies at low levels via request, I could see something being done to give darkie priests a little boost for novice/initiate/apprentice.

So. Journeyman is flamestrike. Maybe it is an advantage to not getting into a cloth faith before then. Light armor up till J-man, then seek faith, and go the way of the cloth.

That's what I did, and for all cloth priests I roll in the future, that's likely what I'll do. I just didn't think that's really the path that was prefered.

Flamestrike really isn't an effective leveling spell, not if you want to level with any speed whatsoever. I found it easier to level via melee than flamestrike, given the cost to damage ratio of the spell.

Flamestrike is a joke for leveling, even if you are spamming it against centaur NPCs. Polemaces are a huge MUST for some classes. Not to mention that if a NPC dirt-kicks a second-row caster, he is rendered useless without a reach weapon.

NPCs dirt kick people in the second row? I don't think I've ever had that happen. And if you're worried about dirt as a second row caster just use any reaching weapon. You won't do any damage with it but it should still keep your spells targetted on whoever you're hitting.

Also, if you really hate levelling a priest that much then make a centaur. Kick + refresh will let you fly past the low levels until you can get spear of faith.

I loved my Centaur priest. Magma hurt, but even the cling didnt kill me. Other than that you can usually outlast other priests in a firefight since centaurs have a nice hp pool.
