I'd suspect that certain not readily noticeable properties of the different armor types are superior on dragonscale when compared to mithril.

For instance all armor types have entirely different saves for how well they prevent damage from "magical" weapons. Weapons with magical stone skin penetrating attacks that bypass armor.

A property of dragonscale may be that it is far superior to other types at reducing damage from magical weapons.

Just a guess, I haven't seen any of this new dragonscale, so I can't say one way or another. But I'd imagine it's something like that.

Every mastered skill has a small chance of failing. Mastered skin and mastered butcher for example, I always had about 3-4% failures. I remember it was annoying when it happened at quicksilver worm skins back then, but it's still a small chance.

From what I understood, they're not talking about a small failure rate in skills/spells. They're actually saying that they fail most of their rolls. I don't know if that's supposed to work that way, but it is a direct effect of the code update.

Like the three "save" categories armor has. Slash/Pierce/Bash, only apply to weapons that do physical damage obviously. Not listed is how well armor made of a certain material protects vs magical weapon damage. Even unenchanted armor will provide some minimal protection vs magical weapons. MP is obviously the best way to reduce this damage, but some base armor materials help more than others.

Is that hearsay or something Dulrik has come out and explained before?

I've heard that notion that magical-type attack types ignores AC and is reduced by MP on another basis than ordinary damage - I've never seen anything to point towards this though and I believe it to be an urban legend.

Likewise, I do not believe that magic resistant races takes half damage from said magic attacks.

An IMM or ex-IMM(my memory is really shot right now), came out a few months ago on some obscure post and mentioned that different armors have certain built in protections vs weapons with magical damage, aside from just MP. I've been scouring the forums looking for the post ever since I made my last post, no luck yet, I'll keep looking.

There is also an armor rating on items that does protect against these items and their exotic damage types.

For the whole thread, he explains it a bit more later on.

It is more difficult to skin, but materials can be skinned earlier in level now.
