How many of your undead do you drop if a rogue dual backstabs you? How much damage does that do?

I die. :P Fortunately there is a rather easy way to counter that, put something behind me. Or cause light undead every 2 ticks, either works. Countering a 1.5 round cast time spell...a little more difficult since just about any spell I can use to counter it has a longer cast time AND can be resisted.

Fear, etherealwand stave, teleport, blindness, o all dirt

ALSO, honestly, how often do you sit 2nd row instead of 3rd row as your necro?

Fear is easily resistible. Ethereal wand and teleport are great and all...problem is that they're ESCAPE spells for the most part, and you know avoiding warlocks isn't hard the problem is KILLING them. Blindness is very easy to resist and has about the same cast time as magma so it's a first draw because if his magma hits first the blindness will be interrupted mid cast. O all dirt...flight has this little disadvantage of not being able to do that, and not flying is even worse.

As for 2nd row, never but that's because there aren't any lightie rogues for me to worry about, otherwise it would depend on who I'm expecting to fight.

I would actually agree with keeping magma as it is, just get rid of the stupid concentration on animates, I can't deal with dropping my only defense after one spell and it's not even holy word.

Hey, I don't have a problem with warlocks being dangerous. I don't have a problem with the damage staying the same even, so long as something is done to make combat last longer. Honestly, Finney had to flee a fight after 1 brandish. I got hit with two magmas, got away and died. Where is the tactical side of that? C mag brutish;! ... while I type flee. That does a whole lot of good. I think it would be a good change to see cone of cold buffed so it's not so laughable, make magma with cling do about 30% to a hybrid, without a cling, do about 20%, and a slightly longer cast time. If all goes well, you could still in about 2 rounds, maybe 3, have a character down to 50%, more if he's getting beat up by your elemental. If cone of cold is hitting around 10-15% per cone, you have something to use against groups that can really change the course of the fight.

Another note: Syndal, an 80 or 100 mp suit is far from "invincible." Anyone who has that much MP, has to sacrifice other enchants, and is a complete sucker for maledictions.

Edit: Also, another big thing is how magma destroys your concentration, evne though it's a really fast cast.

The issue is people are use to being able to laugh at warlocks and not fear them.

Now that is no longer the case, as time goes on people will figure out how to keep warlocks in check, they are still not even close to the most powerful class so I don't understand why they are getting so much attention.

Its not 'magma' disrupting your concentration, anytime you get THAT REALLY DID HURT your concentration has a chance of being disrupted.

Because they can do all of this NAKED. I've played a warlock before and they require -absolutely- no gear to do all of this that we've said. All a warlock has to do is c 'conjure elemental'fire;po self m2;c 'magma spray' anyone and they're set. No preparation, no gear, nothing. Every other class requires either some serious gear or a lot of preparation to be anywhere near as viable in pk or pve.

A naked warlock won't make any saves against all the ways we already discussed you can neutralize him/her.

So your argument 'well you can save against that' just went out the window if you want to start down the 'naked warlock' path.

Except I can prevent EVERY other type of "that really did hurt" with enchantments, if I get hit with one magma, it's all over. Not only am I at 40% life and likely to die from magma burn but I also have nothing in front of me and no way to kill the warlock except maybe a horse or something in front of me.

I think you missed the fact that magma spray has the same/lower casting time then any of my "disable" spells and that if a magma hits while I'm casting them they are INTERRUPTED and I have to start all over (not really feasible since the 2nd magma will also hit before it's done casting and I die to it.

Anyway, I'm done arguing. The core of my h8 is really with animate dead anyway and not with magma spray. If only Dulrik would just limit the number of animates to like 10 or something and get rid of concentration... :(
