Nobody likes them, they aren't condusive to PK at all, for anybody, why are they still around? They weren't so awful back in the day because they spawned whenever you had a deathmark, but deathmark wasn't permanent, banishment is, once you're banished there is no way to avoid bounty NPCs.

As such, nobody solo PK's anymore in enemy territory. The only feasible place to find a good solo PK is teron, and that's rare as it is, only a very few run around without a couple others in teron.

Bounty NPCs also have completely nonsensical abilities given their class types. Did you know they can go ethereal? I sure didn't until last night, that was a bit of a shock. I'll tell you one thing, none of them are sorcerors.

I'd really like to see the bounty system looked at again, I don't think anyone would really be upset if they just disappeared. I think they add a bit of flavor to the game, and they are sort of necessary for banishment to work properly, but I think they should spawn with MUCH LESS frequency than they do now. You can have three bounty NPCs on you in three leagues as it currently stands. They also should not have reaching weapons. They can destroy a second row pet in a matter of two or three rounds with their pikes, and several of them cast spells as well.

I've seen -loads- of complaints about bounty NPCs and how they severely hinder small scale PK in enemy territory. Why are they still around, what's the reasoning?

Wilderness spawning of bounty NPCs was drastically reduced in a recent update. Inside cities, yes they spawn. That's to protect the newbs. I could suggest fighting in an area that does not have laws that exists in every kingdom and most PK involved folks will frequent anyway. Bounty NPCs don't spawn there.

Yeah portal stones are great, but like I said, standing around solo at portal stones really is just asking to be killed. It's also not really hunting, it's more like waiting...

The whole idea is to not mandate that players must be in a huge gank squad to even make an attempt at PK in enemy territory.

I do agree actually, bounty NPCs are nasty pieces of work.
I would not mind if bounty NPCs were to spawn only in cities, but not in wilderness areas.

Remove bounty NPCs and let tribunals bring their guard NPCs into uxmal.

Welcome to a whole new mud where there is far, far more solo pk and therefore far less group v group pk.

Getting banished is meant to be a big thing. The requirements for banishments should be upped.Bounty NPCs are fine and do make a difference in pk at times. Nobody attacks cities for noobs. People hide in their cities for the "noob protecting" guards.

Those are both amazing suggestions, I agree bounty NPCs are needed for banishment to work properly, so combine Algon, and Strai's solution, and you'd have what in my minds would be a perfectly acceptable and workable system.

Remove bounty NPCs from wilderness areas, they -only- spawn in cities(noobs are protected), and allow tribunals to take guards to teron. All of the sudden people can go hunting solo around cities, looking for people entering and leaving, without huge gank squads to deal with bounty NPCs. And people would still need to have a large party to storm a city, which leaves banishment effective. A city will still be far safer than the wilderness.

Both very good suggestions, I approve.

I like the ideas and I agree bounty NPCs force people to group pvp. People would like the option to solo pvp at times.
