Still disagree. Leave sk alone.

If you don't like it, please explain why. Otherwise it just sounds like you're opposed to any and all change just because it's change.

I really don't like stuff that costs experience - death and energy drain are bad enough as is. There are other ways of making it more costly, though. Perhaps the branding should take an IC day to complete - and you can only have one item undergo branding at a time? Perhaps only certain, special blacksmiths could brand high-level items, too?

The more I think about this idea, the more excited I get. It enables personalization (a feature sorely lacking in SK), it creates a new use for blacksmiths (particularly the more obscure ones out in the wilderness), and it makes it easier to maintain items of particular RP significance.

And you do not think that is a valid opinion to have?

No, I don't. Opposing change merely because it's change is just as bad as change for the sake of change. If you're going to disagree, I believe you should have a logical backing for that disagreement beyond "don't change things".

I kinda like the idea, but the implicit buff to paladins would absolutely necessitate finally throwing necros a bone along with it [like 'bolster undead' maybe *cough cough*] :)

Or you could still institute brands and not have them affect junking. Could still pass down the elite gear of ages past.

Well you are then wrong. The fact that it is an opinion means that whatever your own views on the subject happen to be do not invalidate his comment. I fail to see how you can't take a statement such as "i like the way things are" for face value. The statement is self explanatory and complete. I don't have an opinion eighter way on this subject.....just bored.

I can see a total number value set on 'junk all', depending on level of item.

Level 10 item == 100
Level 50 item == 2

Scale it from there.

But to drag 1k steaks 40 rooms to get outside to junk them? Or 30 useless NPC weapons so they'll re-arm themselves?

And requiring magic to junk some items only means that zapping stuff will sit their till the dread enemy you just slew (or one of his henchmen) comes back to reclaim his sword of one-hit you-killer.

True, that's ridiculous. There are certain objects that could definitely stand to be excluded from such a formula [including notes and such].
