OK, how is the tactic of withdrawing all coins from the bank, removing all EQ, dropping them or giving them to a friend and then going to auto surrender to avoid a possible banishment and/or bounty NPCs viewed from the players and immstaff?

EDIT: And about my vote, obviously I find it lame, because it pretty much makes the law system not working at all as intended.

I find it fine. It's like the gangster IRL, who is doing his arrangements (aka passing his $ to accounts of friends etc) before he surrenders to do his time in jail. I personally do not find anything offending in this, and I have done it a gazillion times. I call whoever claims that he/she goes and surrenders with full eq on and gold on purpose a BIG FAT LIAR! *nods sagely*

With some characters, I march in fully equipped and lose whatever...generally because I don't care what I lose on them.

With others, especially those with keepsakes, or if the blacks in the bank are waiting on a special purpose, you better bet I'm handing them into safekeeping first. It's not like you can barter to get things back - confiscated, poof.

Besides, odds are, the people breaking the laws don't care too much about them. They're submitting to the law out of convenience. I don't think this is a major issue, personally.

Looks like the public has spoken.

Edit: Hah, the poll results look like a giant middle finger.

It's not only on what is lost if you get caught with this tactic.

People commit crimes in kingdoms they are at war with probably, these crimes get reported, then they go and surrender themselves naked, wait out the time in jail, get a rez/regen/whatever, grab their stuff back and they are free to roam in that kingdom again and commit more crimes without the fear of law NPCs or anything.

But I guess since most people find this tactic fine, I can once more say I pity the quality of RP in SK.

Of course the only person who cares about this is someone who doesn't engage in PK ever, and relies on NPCs to do everything for him. D-A, just stop posting.

The only person that thinks logically and considers how things are meant to work, when players find ways to twink their way out of the code's punishment.

Syndal, drvthrukthx.

Roflz. You think this is a real detriment to RP? What about all the other crazy crap that you've pulled? No comment there? Now you're trying to tout the rules when you walk the line yourself?

I think it's fine. If I am at war with a nation, why would I willingly offer them money, equipment and weapons? Unless you play a blindly principled character, I don't see what the big deal is.

In other news, you just got owned by Achernar.

Punishing crimes isn't to stop PK, but to impose a cost high enough that it isn't done for trivial reasons. I think the current system suffices. (Heck, I've offered pardons to people I thought had really good reasons for PK; you know how bribable those Nerina clerks can be....)

It may be bad RP for some characters to surrender at all. But I can't see why those who do surrender shouldn't be consistent about using the system to their advantage.
