lol@ middle finger comment.

Turning in naked is fine, especially since people are l337 and gather heads to embalm nowadays. :)

But I guess since most people find this tactic fine, I can once more say I pity the quality of RP in SK.
Don't be so damn grumpy all the time, DA.

The quality of RP in SK has nothing to do with this system at all. I do not see how it is breaking RP for someone to give his weapon/armor to someone before turning up to the enemy and surrendering.

Now CRS on the other hand, [Enter random grumpy CRS flaming here.]

Back on track, I think it's fine. To banish a character who happened to attack a country on one occasion, and then in another 10 years later from a certain land, practically terminating his chances to ever RP there again, that's what's detrimental to RP.

In all honesty, I do not like the jail system at all. It is a system that forces you, the player, to sit staring at the screen for X time, unable to do anything. This means players are pushed to do other things while they play a game, which defeats the whole purpose of a game as by the following equation:

Quote:
Sk = game
Game = fun
Fun = something that provides mirth or amusement.
Watching your char unable to do anything but send tells =! fun

Unfortunately there's not much else you can do to make a punishment feel
like one to the player, though.

When players value their precious equipment above their character's life and when players consider the surrendering to an enemy naked instantly after a crime so they can avoid banishment when the enemy tribunal leader logs in as fine RP, I'm sorry Erevan, but I seriously question the RP quality of these players.

Unless the law system is placed there and is meant to be twinked out in such ways that make no sense IC. If Dulrik has placed it for that reason, I'll be the first that will be happy to finally abuse it myself as well. And judging from Achernar's response, at least one from the immstaff is supporting such great roleplay.

Hmmm... Even more, perhaps jail-time should be completely removed from the system. Use other punishments like confiscation/cutting limbs/execution, perhaps even a slight experience removal would be more fitting than sentencing the players to just sit there and stair at their screens.

Yeah. It's not like I haven't taken measures to avoid my char's death(as in auto surrender on), the measures simply failed to work though.

Experience removal - Definitely not. Many reasons for that.

Having spent time both as a tribunal player (Valtari) and a guy who ended up thrown in jail for extensive periods of time(Vince), I've got some ideas about jail, but none of them involve changing this tactic. As it stands, every jailtime day is literally ~20 minutes of you sitting there doing -nothing-. Absolutely nothing. No wonder people do whatever it takes to avoid getting a lot of crimes.

On the other hand, though, there -should- be a high cost for the crimes you've committed. I just think that making a player go afk for hours at a time isn't a very RP-inducing punishment.

On-topic, IMO remove-all;auto surrender is pretty lousy. I mean -really- lousy. BUT, I completely understand why people do it, and that's because of bounty NPCs. I'm making another poll to deal with that, though.

You make the law system based on something more than just code, and then come down like a rock on people who abuse the system. Until there's a decent trial or something else set up, then abuse away.

I've actually restrained myself on several threads from calling DA out on a few things, I'm glad other people see it happening too.
