Or, you can take it as it is, as a BUFF to barbs whom WERE lacking against MERKS, and shove it?:o

Agree.

Ive had some interesting tests with my barb against other mercs. My ability to win was highly dependent upon weapon choice. Sometimes the merc would destroy me effortlessly, sometimes I could destroy them. But more often than not, I was getting killed by misses due to the merc e-parry skill.

I think people focus too often on the PvP 100% prep sort of situation, or the 1v1 pure duel situation, when comparing classes. It's easy to I guess, given the current size of the pbase and lack of newbs/new rollers and etc. Part of the reason griffons and barbs and etc. are so much crappier in the latter situation is because they're so good to go, right off the bat. You look at a barb: he can make his own food, gets armor when naked/partially clothed, can fight well weaponless, and can buff up most random weapons he happens to pick up. These are advantages. You just plain don't have to work as hard to be as effective. Will he lose to a merc specced in the "best" subtype, decked out in enchanted ada, etc? Yeah, probably. He's supposed to, I think that's the idea. But 1v1 doesn't happen that often, and even so, the guy with prep (vials, surprise, etc.) generally wins regardless of class.

Classes have distinctive uses and flavors. The barbarian is a class that relies on its many "natural" strengths to be an effective damage dealer and tank at almost any time. The merc is a class that relies on its specialized defensive power after getting hooked up with specific EQ and buffs. Just because they're both warrior-type classes doesn't mean there should be an effing double KO every time they battle 1v1.
