I see no IC reason every kingdom should have the same punishments. But the bigger problem is that a lot of these aren't punishments to speak of. Unless you're saving money for something, wealth fines are a joke. Equipment fines are meaningless when you can loan your equipment to someone else before surrendering.

I like the idea of removing imprisonment from non-PC assault/attempted murder. Just plunging through law NPCs, without killing them, shouldn't result in a sentence of weeks. But all murders, along with theft, assault, or attempted murder of a PC, call for real IC punishment.

I can understand substituting one real IC punishment for another. Say an equipment fine kept removing equipment until a certain value was reached. If the total was not enough, the stripped target would be randomly teleported. That might be a fine worth worrying about.

I already do not like the idea that NPC guards know who the hell you are even when disguised or polymorphed.

Going as far as taking money from a cabal's account is rather horrible, as the character in question may be one of those few who keep their allegiances secret.

Also, the economy system in SK is frail as it is. We are limited to a generally small amount of things we can sell to all stores in the game before they are overstocked. In general, it seems the game can produce a maximum of say 40 obs per few hours, and by that I do not mean per player.

From personal experience of running the fist for the last year or so, I've found it mildly annoying to keep our cabal account on good levels, and we're not even attacked often.

The hammer has it worse, but they have more active characters.

Tribunals fortunately do not lose vast amounts of money per raid.

Introducing money taken from your character's organization when you go to prison will cause trouble to those few who are charged with keeping the accounts of said organization up.

Note that you don't HAVE to pay the ransom. Apparently in your skim reading you missed some important things like details. That is up to the leader of your tribunal/cabal and you can choose to serve the time as normal.

I also clearly pointed out failsafes to keep cabal identity a secret as well. Your cabal character would never be revealed as a cabal character unless you were openly using offensive cabal spells. If you're doing that, then you're obviously not keeping it a secret anyway.

Please read the entirety of my post before panicking and going off on things that I have already stated would not happen.

Also note, that instead of saying X's name on your tribunal balance log, it would say Harlequin XXXXX copper instead of QQer XXXXX copper.

And your thoughts on the economic system are failed thoughts, SK has a veeerrrrrrrry strong economy system, you just live in places where people don't care, every month I put 50-100 obsidian from our tribunal coffers into the economy. If you don't want to lose money VIA raids and such, then by all means, give in to the greater force, instead of constantly trying to stay in the game, there is such thing as defeat people, and I personally have admitted to it on a character before :O(Jeypinn).

Perhaps the whole cabal thing, where they take money from the cabal, could be decided on by the tribunal/cabal leader, if they want to pay X amount of money per crime Y has committed? It would give leaders another good aspect as to why they should be leaders.

A side note, Cannibals idea was where I was heading with this, I really like his spin on it.

Another rant: It doesn't matter, ICly, that "all kingdoms shouldnt have the same punishment"

I dont care if theft in nerina is monetary fine and in Aghelia its a limb loss, as long as they CUT BACK on the fact that in some places(Zhenshi) EEVVVVVVVVVVVVVERY CRIME INVOLVES JAIL. If you THINK this is the case, or should be, then Aghelia/Empire should be the single HARSHEST laws, in SK, they are brutal, law orderly, and then they are just plan wack and evil and diabolical.

Okay. Peso's idea sucks. Just remove jail from the game completely. And execute everyone for every crime. Repeatedly. If you killed 10 people, they execute you, rez you, execute you, etc, till you've died 10 times, and then you have 10x SD and have to walk around with it FOR LIKE EVAH.

On a more serious note. I don't really care what gets done, but the whole jail system needs to be revamped. Expecting a player to sit in jail for HOURS ON END, because they uh...OMFG PLAYED THE GOD D*** GAME. IS ****ING RET*RDED.
