It seems to me the only question on the table really is: Should it be a bit easier for priests to level between novice and journeyman?

I say hell yes! Leveling priests is a pain until you get flamestrike. I know its probably easy if you know where to get polemaces and strength mods and all that happy jazz but that's a lot of pieces in a puzzle. Moving up second attack helps out people who don't know what's going on. Greybie priest is usually the recommended first character, so I'm all for having priests be easier to level.

I leveled my priest to gm in well under 100 hours. I don't know why you people find it so difficult to level a priest. It is easier than most other classes.

Let's break it down:

Fighters/scouts/hellions need to constantly rest for their PE and HP. Constantly.

Sorcs/necros lose HP now with the throw system and what not.

bards have a [REDACTED] MP regen rate.

Paladins along with priests are the easiest nuts to level. They can refresh themselves, they have a fair regen rate, they can heal themselves, they can remove most training-stopper maledictions like blindness/plague.

I rarely even used flamestrike as I leveled. Sure, its faster in certain circumstances but you can do it with spear of faith just as well, in other areas.

My experience has been that getting to Journeyman is incredibly slow for priests. Veteran is far too late for second attack, as spear of faith wholly decimates whatever benefit second attack offers by that time.

Classes that currently don't get second attack very early on, should. It doesn't overpower anything, it just makes early leveling much easier.

What race? I know that gnome priests are absolutely horrid to lvl, and if you say Griffon, I will personally kick you in the arse.

ROFL, and what level did your priest join the Fist at? >_>

Also, no, seriously. I can't comment on scouts. But, having leveled a merc/barb/hellion in the past 2 months or so. Save up 2 obsidian or so in the newb school(assuming your newb school doesn't suck horribly, it's pretty easy to get 5+ obsidian in the Taslamar School) go buy some glistening tanso and a flamberge or some other 2-handed weapon. And you will never, ever, have to rest for HP until like master+ level. And you can usually kill every NPC in an area without running out of PE, unless you -HAVE TO- bash(which hellions can't do) them(sorc NPCs).
