I honestly wouldn't care either way, my guards currently load with [REDACTED] [REDACTED] gear, and I'm one of those players that, unless I am -personally- using one in my group, just don't have the will to equip them with anything better. I must thank DA for spending the time to do that, because I sure as hell wouldn't.

What I would have an issue with, is if the guards are only able to wear the gear they load with, something would have to be done city to city about the various descrepancies in the quality of the gear the guards load with.

Exile for instance, all their guards load with full suits of MR enchanted steel, and iron weapons. They're named NPCs load with suits of diamond and the like. The Moot on the other hand, our guards load with leather armor on -mercenary- NPCs, using one handed axes or some horrible weapon like that. We have no NPCs that load with anything near the quality of Exile guards. GoA as well, do they have any NPCs that load with -any- equipment? I know their champions load with bardiches and sometimes shields, that's all I've seen.

You get my point, I wouldn't mind if this went into effect as long as there was a bit of standardization to go with it. The ability to equip NPCs is the only thing that gives some tribunals a fighting chance with their PC's.

Visiting another point of the topic, while I wouldn't be opposed to such a change, I believe it will do little actual good in the way of making cities easier to invade. The banish code is what -really- prevents people from raiding cities, bounty NPCs are infinitely more difficult than the cannon fodder guards that most cities have. They're the real beef in the lines of defense for each kingdom. If you want to have cities become less of a turtle hole and more easily accessable for invasion the real topic to be looking at is the removal or tweaking of bounty NPCs. Nerfing guards ability to use gear isn't the way to go about it. That will only hurt the defense of the city if a tribunal member actually shows up with a guard he or she has taken time outfitting. It will make matters even worse for actually attacking another city with said guard you cannot outfit.

I can. Some of us don't want standardized tribunals, where all guards cannot wear armor/weapon or the opposite. I have currently lent my Atari 2600 to Stryfore for his standardization ideas because of the "omg powerful other tribunals". He is allowed to share it with you so that you both have lots of hours of standardized fun. :D

Interesting that you should use the word 'standard' as a flawed synonym for the word 'fair'.

Here's a variation to the idea:

Why not make law-mobs something like the war-party groups (the ones that are controlled by imms only)

Have them be able to wear only the stuff THEY produce and crumble after their death. They should always respawn fully equipped, with armor and weapons that CAN NOT BE removed, and crumble when they die.

All equipment for all NPCs of the same "class" would be THE SAME, but simply with different descriptions to fit the nation they stand for.

This sounds pretty reasonable (or 'standard', lol) to me.

Ideas like that led to CRS a few years ago.

GJ there, make everything the same!

Off topic for a second, I remember when bounty NPCs first got put back in and you could order them...Riding around on a golden griffon=win.

Anyways...Tribunal NPCs wearing eq really is not that overpowered. I have a fantastic idea for everyone complaining about D-A equipping those zombies(only NPCs I've seen him equip). OMFG DON'T GO THROUGH A RIFT.

If somebody took the time to go around Nerina and arm every single armored male dwarf(and used eleet haxxor skills to increase the number of them) with suit of glistening and an enchanted scythe(their spec I think) then we could talk about equipping guards being overpowered. Unless I'm underestimating DA's patience and willingness to waste time, nobody goes around and equips every single guard. It's usually a select group(which can be easily avoided) or one-two of the higher level guards.
