all elves and elf-derivatives get a bad deal - good for RP, bad for playing.
I know it's been said before, and I'm sure it will be said again.

Deep-elves/elves get:
Long lives.
Good rp opportunities (when not getting killed on sight).
High int/cha (not both).

Deep-elves/elves also get:
Lots and lots of natural enemies.
Weak bodies.
Natural weakness to iron.

Also, I don't understand why delves have so low cha relative to elves
(unless you're of the school of thought that says twisted and evil people
can't be charismatic which I'm sure at least 90% of people everywhere
can refute intelligently).

Well, actually given the synthesis and regulations of their society, how matriarchy rules there and how strict things can be, how one raised in Ch'zzrym would often have to be either hideously brown-nosed or sneakily evil do get through, how they are used to live in the dark and their whole culture is based on gloomy icons, one can understand why they would not be charismatic (at least in terms of the surface-people).

For all the rest, I agree.

P.S. Give us deep-elf bards :(

We should get delf bards.
There are delf bards in Ch'zzrym. Why not us ? :(

Also, not all deep-elves spend their lives in Ch'zzrym. :P

I absolutely love drow (!) culture, but one would have to be a total nutter and a masochist if one chose to play a deep-elf (boo) or an elf in this game. They get the total shaft, weakness-wise.

[quote="juggernaut"] hideously brown-nosed or sneakily evil do get through, .

quote]

So you're saying that the reason they aren't charismatic is because they have to be extremly charismatic to survive?

wait...

FYI charismatic people don't need to be brown-nosed nor sneaky :P

P.S. (and they usually know how to quote correctly :P)

It depends on your definition of charismatic.

Failing to quote properly is all part of my charm.

I will agree with Juggernaut on this one, to a point. Given the matriarchal system of Chy'zzrm, the Matrons rule, everyone else, except perhaps the priestesses, is almost entirely subservient. The Matrons also don't rule through natural charm, with everyone liking them, anyone whose ever done the quests down there can tell you they rule with an iron fist. They keep their subjects in line through fear and scare tactics alone, and attempt to dispose of anyone who opposes them. So I agree with the low charisma score for deep-elves in that regard.

I also however agree that both elves and deep-elves could use a significant boost, they're the whipping boys of SK, they get an extremely raw deal in the mechanics department.

Charisma does not mean "lovey dovey, do what I say because I convince you with pretty flowers and rainbows." It's just as charismatic to intimidate someone into doing what you want through believable threats and fear as it is to persuade them via buttering up.

Sure, that also works into my point just as easily. There are very few individuals like that in Chyzzrm, you have the Matrons and maybe the high priestesses and that's about it. The rest are subservient almost to a degree of servitude to the Matron's will. In general deep-elves are a race of followers for one reason or another. Not saying that as with all things enigmas can't exist, but as far as the in game culture goes, it's not the norm.
