I will agree with Juggernaut on this one, to a point. Given the matriarchal system of Chy'zzrm, the Matrons rule, everyone else, except perhaps the priestesses, is almost entirely subservient. The Matrons also don't rule through natural charm, with everyone liking them, anyone whose ever done the quests down there can tell you they rule with an iron fist. They keep their subjects in line through fear and scare tactics alone, and attempt to dispose of anyone who opposes them. So I agree with the low charisma score for deep-elves in that regard.

I also however agree that both elves and deep-elves could use a significant boost, they're the whipping boys of SK, they get an extremely raw deal in the mechanics department.

That captures my thoughts on the subject adequately.

Elves and Deep-elves are complete garbage. Sure, they get "magic resistant" or wtfever, but then they're both weak to a whole load of spells.

Also what in the hell is with their Wisdom scores? I would expect them to be WISER THAN SPRITES? Elves and Delves get 18 wisdom. Last I checked Sprites get 20.

Sprites are the spiritual leaders of the Ayamaoan Alliance. Unwise people get involved with these hideous religions that can be found anywhere. The wise only listen to dead people, don'tcha know? It's the game's way to make commentary on the evilness of religion in the world.

Deep-elven disadvantages really are pretty ugly for what they get and elven ones are almost as bad, but just reducing them would be a pretty boring solution. Making all the different races play basically the same seems like something to be avoided, right? I'd like to see way more things like dwarf's little boost to axes, or sprite's and griffon's ability to fight while flying without a penalty. Things that push the playstyle of different races further apart. So, how about giving elves and deep-elves something like this? Maybe deep-elves could gain some sort of aggressive spellcasting and melee enhancing affect at night. Elves could gain something similar during the day, but of a more defensive nature. The specifics don't matter so much to me, but I do think even a small affect would change how they play enough to be interesting.

I was hoping more for boosted stats and stat points.
I'd play a delf or an elf regardless of the weaknesses
(which are pretty extreme) if I could get potentially
better stats than any other race.
It would balance out. Massive weaknesses, but also
great advantages (22 wis would be nice and a small boost
to cha for delfs). It would also make sense.
Elves have the weakest physical attributes
(except for dex, as far as I know). That should be
balanced by great mental attributes, '
fae beauty and charm.
Wisdom, in my mind, is something you acquire
through experience, which fits pretty well with
almost 300 years of life (or more, in Inzaarid's case :P)

I think the reason they have low wisdom is because int and wisdom are different. They are certainly intelligence, but they are narrow minded in their beliefs.

Half-elves have about the same, if memory serves.
Not a lot more at least.
So they're narrow-minded too?

doesn't anyone think a lifetime of plotting and scheming
would result in some form of wisdom?

Half-elves get 20 actually, the same as humans. I was going to post something similar to what Josephmaximus said, but he beat me to it. Intelligence is knowlege, wisdom is application of said knowledge. Elves and Deep-elves certainly collect a lot of information in their very long lifetimes, but in a lot of fantasy out there they tend to not act on much of it very often. They're quite set in their ways and not easily swayed, even when it may be wise to try a different approach. Granted SK isn't "a lot of fantasy out there," yet I could still see such resulting in less than satisfactory wisdom stat. I always thought elves should at least get 23 intelligence though. I also think deep-elves could use another point of constitution and dexterity... For starters.

I think the int for elves is sufficient. Especially considering delfs
get screwed on cha :/

Actually, elves should get dropped down to 20 int. Since it makes no sense for them to have better all around stats, and less weaknesses than their evil counterparts.
