That's a bit harsh but I like the sentiment. My idea would be less harsh and still strongly suggest an atonement process to those who don't currently really need to atone themselves.

No, because the benefits for being laity in a religion are almost entirely RP based, if symbol scripts were returned I could see some sort of punishment additional, but not what you've asked for.

As is, it's fine. Bring back symbol scripts and then you can strip symbol scripts, block recall, and maybe give some sort of morale penalty to concentration/hit/damage.

Free gear that there is one set of, and what the hell does a merc spec have to do with anything?

Neither of those is a good enough reason to make blemish do more than it already does.
