Don't you mean 6 attacks? I thought the xtra attack counts towards on dual wielding.

Sorcs can dish out a ton of damage with acid. I mean jeez, Sypher just posted himself doing between 6-16% with acid on a magic resistant, 25 dex race fighter that probably had shield up from a law NPC. Factor in a good charm tank. And that's a pretty close fight(if you avoid getting taunted :drunk: )

Sypher just sucks at playing a sorc. Back in the days when I had mine, I barely if ever used Acid Blast to kill anyone, I had more effective methods, and this is not including the bugs I exploited, or NPC training (which was very effective).

Sorc's were never intended to deal out high spell damage either, they had a wide variety of things they could do from buffing players or themselves, slipping away from battle, avoiding high end opening hits, concealing themselves, getting a NPC (and or Player) to do his dirty work for him, enchanting gear/weapons, transportation, and even making use of other casters spells using three different tools.

So why again should these guys be blasting people away with Acid Blast? Want a strong opener, well you should have picked a Warlock.

Sorry you can't compare sorcs from back in the day to sorcs today. They're like black and white. Especially after the great wimping of the charms.

You see the problem is not that spellcasters can't easily dominate melee classes. The problem is that they don't want to do so and lose the loot. Sorcerors can one shot anyone with petrification. They just don't like to use it because that means no loot.

You're greedy Sypher, not underpowered.

Besides, you can always use Charm Person on the warrior and take them.

And the statement, "a caster has to use his spells to make up for his charmie"...wait...duh? A caster SHOULD have to use spells to make up for the free melee it gets?

I don't think anyone is going to complain about magma spray.

No one should complain about necros.

I'll state again Sypher, you're not underpowered. You're greedy.

Sprites don't get two extra attacks. They only get one. However, it does stack with haste. So if they would get 5 attacks where a normal swashi would get 5, they would then get 6. They do not get their racial bonus applied to both weapons via dual wield.

Sprite swashis used to be incredibly powerful under the old melee system. It was back then that they received the wimp to the size that they could be. They also had their max str reduced. That happened when I played Mordanzibel.

They aren't that great anymore. Still good for tanking but their damage output isn't much to worry about and most giants will just pure outdamage them because when they do get hit, it hurts like crazy.

Another thing to consider about sorcs is that they have a powerful spell for each save type. So if someone has stacked mp and reflex, they can still charm them. If someone has high will, they can still be petrified, if someone has high fort and will, they can still be acid blasted. They also can charm excellent tanks and still cast these spells. Not to mention that with scrolls, that they can scribe themselves no less, they can charm multiple NPCs for big armies.

Anyone complaining about the pkability of a sorceror is just whining IMO. There is no way to ever fully protect yourself against a sorceror. Even if you DO make yourself, somehow, immune to all their other things, a sorc, in the end, can final strike you into oblivion. They also have the best death avoidance spell in the game. Etherealform. Combine that with teleport and a sorc pretty much should never die unless to another sorc or an extremly prepared rogue. Ethereal form scrolls don't exactly grow on trees after all.

Besides, you should never substitute NPC meat for player meat shields. That was one of the major reasons for the across the board reduction of NPC power back in the day. To make them equal to or slightly lesser than player characters.

The difference between melee and spellcasting atm is that anyone can put some effort and make up a suit of sick enchants(judging from myself with 48 MP 29 fort 32 will 18 refl) and added with proper buffs(protection, sanc, shield etc), he can nullify all damage from spells and maledictions from landing in at least 90% of spells cast.

What he can't do is that even with all that MP on AC10 armor pieces mostly he can't nullify melee damage. I know that even a swashie with way more MP than me(6-8 MP on each armor piece of his) gets hit hard in melee, while he laughs at all damage spells.

Of course one spell is excluded from this argument, but that spell is [RULES VIOLATION ETC], let's not start again.

EDIT: 2 spells actually, but one is not that easy to pull off without some serious RP involved.

Melee is simple to not be hurt in DA.

Don't get hit by it.

This is why sorcs get ethereal form and Warlocks get stone skin and ironguard.
