WIND

Various aspects of weather tendencies can be set by a builder. When I was building, I didn't think about it too much, and tended to set the weather more violent than less. That may or may not be a common attitude among other builders. If the weather around the realms is on the whole too violent, it might be worth petitioning for some tweaks. It should be quick to modify for someone with the right privs.

GATE ANCHORS

I'm in favor of some sort of gate anchor spell or item or spell item. There are lots of ways to keep them from proliferating the mud -- require concentration, add a timer, etc.

Or what about allowing named pets to be gated to? Then you could leave Fido out at the Wastes portal (poor Fido) until you log off, then he goes poof.

Or... There's probably other threads about this sort of thing, eh?

LOLTH

I like Lolth, but maybe this is the wrong forum for discussing Lolth's chars, playstyle and alleged hypocrisy?

Peace,
Bux

Actually, last I checked, this is currently possible, even if you've freed the pet.

You have only yourself to blame when others think you played a different aura, Lolth. You come into the Gameplay forum with a venomous tongue; addressing a few fellow players by the name calling "idiocy", then ask them to consider when next time a form of abuse occurs.

I have myself to blame because you didn't know what alignment I played? What the hell are you even going on about? The people I interacted with knew exactly what aura I was, especially because most of the MC was grey-oriented back then and the fact that I wasn't lead to several inner clashes.

How quickly you forget at least one of your very own characters quaffing word of recall out of charm person, that you even tried to come up with excuses for, which effectively made Dulrik to force the code change to prevent you from doing that with any more characters of yours repeating the same...

The fact that I forgot about it shows that it was a unique incident. I don't know whether I was a catalyst to that change, nor do I care enough to search through forum logs, but it doesn't alter the fact that said code update has ultimately been beneficial. So yeah, if I contributed to it, what can I say? I am glad. Again, I wasn't harming anyone but myself.

...what did you call it, idiocy, and abuse, was it? Surely all this time when you flame others on the internet forums, including when you call out others on "pretentious hypocrisy", there has to be a limit on the irony in there somewhere.

Oh no, muffin. Get it right, I am calling you a pretentious hypocrite.

See, the differences between you and others is that some of us will not call you lame on doing things such as reincarnating a character to save loot. Why is this? Because while you have done it at least once on your characters, and some of us never have, it may be worth a shot in the future.

I didn't reincarnate to save my loot. That one was long gone. I did so to try salvaging my partner's and hoped to land a lucky (insert cabal skill.) It didn't work out, what's your point? If reincarnation wasn't to be used, it wouldn't exist as an option.

We were both amused and amazed though when Ishiye tried it. That's the honest truth. No "RP"ing here.

We? Who is 'we'? Are you suffering from some kind of dissociative personality disorder? You're the only one complaining. Unless of course you cannot stand up for your own opinions and try to attribute them to a mass of people.

Probably. I'm pretty much done replying to Minette for my part. Sorry to contribute in sidetracking the thread.

I'm all for an anchor spell. Making it so you can cast it on an item along with a keyword, and then leave it there. Simply make it easily detectable with detect magic and easily dispelled. Concentration cost would be good also (like what it takes for animated dead perhaps).

Just make the Gate Anchor something physical that can be manipulated by some outside force. Like say you drop a glowing orb as an Anchor. Then someone walks by it, picks it up and puts it somewhere more suitable, like infront of a dragon just to be a dick.

I'd be all for that kind of Anchor.

But that's what we were doing and lazy noobs were getting killed in the process. :P

Using NPC anchors of course.

Why are we even talking about this now? Anchors hardly work now anyways, what with a reboot every other day.

Bux is right. Wind is an easy fix, if that's what builders want to do. I never really gave the issue much thought and it may be that a lot of builders haven't either. Also, while we have Kingdom Directors, we don't often have anyone who specifically is managing the oceans, so that may be another reason why it has never been tuned.

I think the winds probably should still be high in those zones that trail off into space, but there should at least be some seasons of calm across most of the rest of the ocean. We'll see what can be done about it.
