Aim upper vs. Aim mid seems to work fairly well right now. Aiming upper results in the most damage, but aiming mid results in a great chance of cutting off someone's arm. If you're fighting somebody wearing a two-handed weapon (i.e., a merc with anything but a khopesh or kama) then cutting off an arm will result in an insta-win. I think that the tactics are balanced.

If they are so balanced, why is that almost no one that has voted in the poll, ever really uses aim lower or aim mid? The reason is simple, in this case only. The negatives of aim high doesn't balance out the positives.

Well, yeah. Aiming for the head -should- hurt more. Aiming for the arms (which is what aim mid really is) doesn't need to do as much damage as aim upper. It doesn't have much of a purpose other than cutting off arms, and that's as it should be.

I prefer aim mid. The chance of cutting off the arms is high and when you aim upper there's a good chance you hit the chest anyways which is just a waste of a hit, while aiming mid you can be fairly sure all your hits are going to count towards the same hp pool.

The point is that none of them should have melee dominance over the others. You should basically only pick one over the other two because it is the best for the class/situation.

It should be pretty damned hard to hit a person's head, especially if that person is holding a shield (and knows how to use it), since protecting the head is pretty much an impulse, especially for a well-trained warrior.
Not that I know anything. I haven't played a warrior.

Regarding aiming high, it seems like there is not enough downside to counter the upside. To me it makes sense that if you decide to aim upper, your miss chance should go up as you try to aim for that head shot and outright fail sometimes. That's a change I may make soon.

Dulrik - there are far more high AC helms and breastplates than there are any other piece of eq, and every class in the game has access to a 10AC energy helm, so in reality aim upper and aim mid are more balanced than you would realize.

Actually no. SK is full of AC 10 armor pieces(whole suits) so this argument is not really working. Everyone worth a bit should have great MP AC 10 armor pieces everywhere(or 6+ MP AC 9 pieces if we are talking about light armor classes).

Aim upper wins hands down every other aim. Mainly because you have 50% chance to hit the same limb, where in aim lower the chance is 33% and in aim mid it's 25%, thus it's easier to mangle it and make only critical hits after that.

Not everyone has the IRL time to spare for such a suit every time they die, especially when it can be so easily taken/junked by a gank squad.
