I know how to map with zmud and the whatnot, never could figure out how to make it into a simple picture form to post, go figure!

I used the print screen button originally on my laptop and then pasted into paint. From there I used some other program to add text. OpenOffice Draw I think. After I did all that, Alshain made it even cooler. So I am not sure what to tell you. I did use Zmud to make the map, and then used MS paint/OODraw to color and add text.

zMud's "Automapper" creates probably the most recogniseable maps. That is to say, their proportions, directions, room links and up/down symbols are probably the most intuitive, if not the de facto standard amongst MUDs.

As a MUD client it also just happens (happened?) to have the largest install base among our players.
