You ride the grey wolf southeast.

Within a tunnel
In a generally northern direction, this tunnel seems to be sloping gently
downward. The walls are generally damp, but they seem free of mold and
moss, as if someone had recently come through to give the stone at least a
cursory scrubbing. The path underfoot is generously strewn with straw, but
several unpleasant stains and smells drift up from it in any case.
Obvious exits: n(closed) e(closed) s nw
(Charmed) The grey wolf is here mounted by you.

The grey wolf is standing too close to the lock.

is this just something to deal with as a rogue or is there a way I'm missing to get your pet to not interfere with picking locks?

Having not really played a rogue before, I can't be too sure.
But I think pick lock won't work if there are npcs in the room of a higher level then you.

Are you serious? That seems pretty dumb to me. Why would your own store bought pet prevent you from picking a lock?

Your right the grey wolf in the game is exactly like the black lab I had grown up as a kid.

It's actually a pretty gimpy limitation on pick lock.

Pick lock is fairly useless from what I saw as my bard.

I hope everyone realizes that this makes pick lock more effective for sorcerers than the classes that actually get the skill.

Oh wait...the fix to that is going to be removing sorcerers ability to order charms to pick locks, not actually fixing the problem.
