nobody seems to have stayed on the concept level. I guess this thread has failed.

Holy word needs no buffs. Hellions do not need holy word. Everything about this thread fails.

But nobody suggested holyword needs a buff.

What I suggested was that as a concept, and by that I mean the way it should work RP-wise, holyword seems to me like it should purify an area.

Trust me I am very well aware that balance wise, hw is already very powerful. The purpose of this thread was to add some divine fluff to followers of the gods, not make hw more powerful. Obviously I picked the wrong spell to try pointing out that it would be more fun if some spells had some added flavor fluff to them, or perhaps nobody else sees the ability to remove rifts and gates as 'flavor'.

To summarise and to remind again,
It is not about 'need' or 'balance'.
It is about making things more interesting rp-wise, and concept-wise.
If not with holy word, with something else. Spells need more fluff IMO.

That's because it's not "flavor," it's a goddamned mechanical boost to a spell that doesn't need one.

No, not really. Priests are pretty damn awesome. They're not the spellcasters who need buffs.

Right. Priests cannot remove room affects. For that you need a shaman, necromancer, or sorceror. I don't think priest need yet another one of those really handy abilities. They are already the most popular class.
