Maybe the law system shouldn't suck so bad. You expect someone to sit in jail for like 20 actual hours, AND lose all their eq?

When people turn themselves in for crimes they almost always have 1-2 crimes. Avoiding sitting in jail for hours is not the reason for cheating by hiding their eq before they turn themselves in.

The jail system is equal to someone casting sleep on you and walking away and not releasing the spell or logging off for hours, and how frowned upon is that?

I know its easy to stay out of jail. Don't break the law, but that goes against some characters RP and they shouldn't be so harshly punished for it. I think Sklz suggested cap the jail time at X days and end it with execution if the crimes warranted more time in jail. Which is a great idea.

That has nothing to do with players cheating by hiding their eq.

It seems perfectly within character for thieves and murderers to hide their loot before giving themselves up. That's what I would do if I had a lot of cash I got from a bank robbery...

When it comes to turning yourself in where there's an execution involved, that might be a bit different since it would be harder to justify why your character would voluntarily sign up for execution. Then again, in a world where characters know they can be resurrected, death might not be as feared by them as it is IRL. Who knows.

If you were arrested and all of your wealth confiscated after a bank robbery, and you had no cash in your bank, you wouldn't simply be let off with the crime. What players are essentially doing is stealing money, burying it, then turning themselves into the 'law' for no penalty and the opportunity to steal money again, and the 'law' is unable to banish them due to coding done by someone who clearly, clearly has never experienced tribunal pk in his own mud.

What about:
  • If the criminal has cash in the bank, they are given a fine;
  • If the criminal has no cash, but is carrying equipment, that could be confiscated as the penalty;
  • If the criminal has no cash in the bank, is wearing nothing of value*, then jail time is then, alas, the judge's only option.

Essentially a sliding scale where X coin = Y level item = Z days in jail.

* Wearing nothing of value, because turning yourself in completely naked to serve jail time is just giving Bubba in cell block H one hell of an invitation.

I want to know why when your money is confiscated it does not go to the kingdom/ tribunal coffers? I think it should generate the economy.
