No buffs for the skill. Just turns all opposite aligned people, currently attacking the paladins group, to focus on him. Kind of like, a suicide so your group could get away.

I like the idea of the zealous cry because it does fall under the paladin mentality of doing basically a kamikaze call and pretty much die in 2 rounds so that the people about to die can live a little longer. It would also be nice because then others in the group who are getting targeted (like say a second-row rogue who's now incapable of circles or hams) can now use their skills. Or simply so they can flee.

Overall, I find the idea of taking frenzy out and putting zealous cry in a very nice switch. It would also help if its slotted in at the level of frenzy because then paladin characters can be of massive aid during leveling, especially when having priests in the front row (since pole-maces are hard to find and spells don't really come until jman) training with them.

sorry, a paladin ability that causes enemies to attack him does not sit so well for me.
A paladin can get his enemies to attack him by rping with them but a spell to do it just seems odd. Maybe bolt of glory could have a switch target to paladin effect as the gods of light demand that you fight their champion but, group taunt? meh.

As for paladin kamikaze mindset, paladins are not idiots. They're zealots. Tactics exist in a paldin's mind more than they do in a mercenary's, imo.

About frenzy not being paladinly, I find it is more paladinly than it is priestly, at least for lightie priests. Can you imagine a fist priestess of wisdom frenzying, for example? :P

Um, If this were to go in to place I would say that it has to be used DURING battle. And I could see this used rp wise. The paladin calls a cry that rescues his wounded allies. *shrugs*

I still like frenzy better.

I think that paladins need a spell, "Holy Cry" instead of Zealous Cry. It seems that the vows of chastity and celibacy have left many of them with not a lot to do but slay in an attempt to stave off sexual urges. What this spell would do is send a holy wench or manslave to the paladin, who will then pleasure said paladin so they aren't quite so uptight all the time. Then, when people say that they are screwing their god, it would be so true. Castable only once an in game year.

Or how about "Blood curdling cry" where the paladin lops off his or her own genitals and flings it at the enemy.

"Baby cry" Where the paladin whines like a baby when the other kids don't play it the 'right' way
