Weapon subtypes have been updated based on the balance spreadsheet that players contributed to earlier in the year.

Out of curiosity, when did this happen?

Hey Dulrik, could you PLEASE start using the NEWS thing that is in the game?

I use that when I do a full package of updates. The next time that happens, this change will be included in that list.

Exactly when I posted it last night. I didn't want anyone to think it was a "stealth" change.

If you disagreed on the ratings given to weapons in the balance spreadsheet, you are only laughing at yourself. You not only got a chance to "vote" but you also were able to add specific commentary and suggestions about the weapons. Although not blindly followed, those comments were carefully considered by the staff when making changes.

And as always, balance changes are not necessarily final. They will continue to be updated as the situation warrants.

The lol is not about your changes, but rather the technique you used to go through them. Instead of taking into account that there are probably a sizeable number of players who specialized in weapons based upon how good they were or how accurate/fast they were, you just ravaged their mercs. Instead of incrementally changing things (or just boosting up the [REDACTED] ones) you solved it through a blunt-force method without giving any warning to the people who have already chosen their permanent specialization.

I appreciate your reading through threads like these, but I have always found the player-immortal relations here to be hilarious, to say the least.

I don't think I made any changes which would turn one of the over-the-top weapons into a [REDACTED] weapon. Those types are all probably still at LEAST on par with other types, if not still better.

This is how it always is though: People whine that there are no changes, and then whine that there are changes, regardless of what the changes actually are. I don't really expect better of most of the playerbase.

You are confusing complaining about the changes themselves and complaining about how the staff implements them. I am not complaining about the balancing of weapon subtypes - I have been a strong proponent of such, actually. I think that when taking into account that players devote a load of their time into their mercenaries and can never take back the specialize, having a little bit of extra courtesy when addressing this stuff as opposed to common bug fixes is important

So, the answer is yes.

I expect to see a flame-fest to come from that, but I won't be part of it. I see an honest albeit exasperated statement of opinion supported by a hidden preponderance of statistical evidence. While I do see a strong disconnect between Dulrik and the community which supports his game, I still see evidence of an attempt to connect sometimes. And this is one of those times I believe Dulrik was working to code according to the desires of the community. Hit or miss, I am not in a position to provide an opinion.

This is where you are wrong. Dulrik has made it very clear that he will do with his game anything that HE wants to. It is not about the p-base. It is about HIS vision for sk.
