It makes it impossible to hide, camo, or invis. I can think of some situations where that would be useful.

Faerie fire owns. Only the fact that it can be resisted through MR and only MR is enough to place it in the elite spell list.

No offense, but how the heck do you figure that? Amongst all the spells in a caster's arsenal, I think faerie fire is pretty damn low on the totem pole. Perhaps if I had absolutely no other use for my mana at the point of casting, I might use it for the heck of it. However, unless you are utilizing it's affect of negating the use of hide and whatnot, I really don't see a use for it. Now, faerie fog on the other hand is actually quite a useful spell. That is probably a topic for another descussion, though.

Faerie fire is awesome. Can't hide/camo/invis, can't be resisted (Except through MR), AND lowers MP (By a decent amount, by the way, depending on caster level.)

Faerie fire/harm was my bread and butter with Jotham. The only problem is that being a delf hurts you so much more. If I was a delf caster, I'd faerie fire any target in PvP before putting damage spells on them (except maybe warlocks, I'm not sure if magmar is affected by faerie fire anymore.) Just no one uses it.

EDIT: Just because I like posting the few naked kills I got with Jotham.

I just recently created a little priest as an alternate character. I'll try faerie fire out and see if it appears worth it at all. However, the debate of faerie fire was not the highlighted point of my initial post. The main idea I wanted to get across was regarding the main stat caps of elves and deep-elves (mainly deep-elves), the fact that they cap off at just short of the maximum possibility for some odd reason, and how there isn't nearly enough incentive for someone to play the races.

Even if faerie fire is "sooper l33t" and all, it still doesn't make up for everything else that is wrong with elves and deep-elves. At least in my opinion. The past few characters I have had that were either grandmaster or champion status were sprites, halflings and half-elves.

I will admit that log is hella' funny, though. If I remember right, I was in the harlies at the same time Jotham. If I recall correctly that is, however.

Oh, I wasn't saying it makes up for it, I was too lazy to read the entire post and the only thing that caught my eye was "Faerie fire sucks".

Deep-elves aren't as rare as you think. They are actually fairly common. In fact I am often shocked at the number of deep-elves that play considering how out of whack their racial weaknesses are.

Elves have it bad too, but I think deep-elves have it worse. I know for a fact that I will never play a deep-elf again while Bolt of Glory absolutely rapes deep-elves inside out and backward until their innards are hanging out.

I'm serious. I would love a deep-elf harly swash or rogue, that would be fun. With their 24 int they could hold spells real well. But I'll never touch one.

My one and only deep-elf was Xull. GM priest of Dabi in the adepts. He was never ever boged oddly enough, but Cyra killed him like three times with overpowered taught. It was stupid. I couldn't cast cure light wounds with 24 int while holding no spells at all because I was taunted.

Also, a flaring light sword in the hands of a merc or barb will kill any deep-elf in moments. Deep-elves loose. They just loose.

Pretty much my point exactly. However, I have been playing alot recently and have not seen many deep-elves around. Maybe one or two every other day or so, but not much more. Granted though, I may run in different circles than you.

I don't know if adding one more point to a deep-elves intelligence capability, giving at least one race the ability to hit the maximum of 25, would make much difference though. It would be nice, but I don't think that would solve all the problems that race is suffering from at the moment. To be honest, I don't know if I could offer a decent solution to the dilema. Adding a point to intelligence would be a good start but from there....I just don't know. Perhaps wimping the damage holy and light based spells and attacks do might work?

At the risk of sounding redundant, elves could you use a little help as well. Buff them similar to deep-elves, only letting them achieve a maximum of 25 charisma, and wimp the damage recieved by dark energy weapons and skills.

Beyond that, I'm drawing a blank as to what to suggest.

After the age tick, delves and elves can get 25 int and charisma, respectively.

This is true, yes. However, if you really, truly want to wait that long, a half-elf and a halfling can achieve 25 charisma. A sprite and a gnome can also achieve 25 intelligence if you want to wait untill you get your third age tick. That is quite a long time, though. By then, your strength, dexterity and constitution have dropped by three points each.

My point is that for each attribute there is, there is a race that can achieve a maximum in it by at least level 20 at the absolute latest, if you know what you're doing. I am curious as to why charisma and intelligence is kept from this possibility. No matter how hard you try and no matter how many mods you have, unless you have a specific ability from a certain cabal, you will never achieve maximum intelligence or charism with a deep-elf or elf unless you wait untill the first age tick to kick in. Mind you with most races, especially elves and deep-elves being the longest living of them all, that is a few hundred playing hours at least.
