Why the [REDACTED] is the answer to everything for Dulrik to wimp stuff? Like the weapon subtypes. Omgz, instead of making the completely [REDACTED] useless weapons better, let's just make the ones that are actually worth using...not worth using, then maybe people will start using [REDACTED] like polearms and flails and stuff! God damn.

The answer to this question could very well be outside the realm of rational understanding.

For these two and anyone else who apparently are unable to comprehend the last thread on this subject: for every weapon that was nerfed, there were far more that were improved. Because I get so tired of idiots that spout misinformation and I can provide numbers that won't affect any real knowledge of gameplay, here we go:

Weapon subtypes buffed: 24
Weapon subtypes nerfed: 7
Weapon subtypes with mixed nerfs/buffs: 4

Number of emails I have received from players complaining about their favorite subtype being nerfed too far: 0

I'm more than willing to be reasonable about things, but folks would far prefer to put on a public show of moaning and wailing rather than do anything useful like entering into a constructive dialog about a problem.

While I appreciate you coming out with this, those numbers aren't really worth that much. If the supposed buffs are something along the line of adding half a point of damage to epee and stuff like that, and the nerfs have more or less thrown bspear, flamberge, kama and khopesh out the window in useful specs.

Who cares if swashies can't use kamas now? If what Dulrik says is true then maybe longswords are a more viable choice or maybe even epees now.

First let me quote myself. You must have missed it:

This is what I asked for in the original thread.

Furthermore, based on the weapons you just put on that list, your statement is obviously based around more misinformation instead of actual experience. Flamberge is actually one of the weapons with a net buff. I'd also challenge you to see any functional difference in battlespear. If you do, its probably only because other weapons are better now than they used to be.

Yes, kama and khopesh were hit the hardest, but they should still be better than average. If you really don't think so, then run some tests and email me with some facts. We already backed off on the khopesh because it turned out to be too much, but that was done from immortal observations, not because I got anything from players.

Translation: Take some initiative instead of just moaning.

LOL That is just funny.

I guess the joke's on you, since the only change was miniscule and I guarantee that you'd have to perform several runs of before and after tests before you'd see even the slightest statistical difference.

PS. Most of you are obviously just doing superficial comparisons to determine what you think was changed. Comparisons against other weapons can't tell you the whole story. Especially when you are pre-disposed to think that something was wimped, when the real story is usually that the other weapon was buffed.

To quote Pulp Fiction... Then sh.. n...., that's what I wanna hear man! Really my whine here is based around the idea of fixing a problem of people not using enough subtypes, by wimping the ones they were using. But if the tweaks are as inconsequential as you say, then I suppose the problem isn't as big as people make it out to.

And just fyi, I don't even play a class that's remotely affected by these changes as it is.

And you just felt like jumping on the bandwagon? Dulrik has enough people complaining on the forums as it is.

EDIT: My take on the matter would be to allow mercs the opportunity to respecialize within 2 weeks if they desired: This would involve removing their specs, and unlearning the specialize skill for them. I know that you believe that IC should trump OOC always, Dulrik, but it also makes little sense in-character for a merc to wake up one morning and realize his favorite weapon is suddenly much slower/less accurate/less damaging.

I was jumping on the bandwagon because I realize what effect it will have on the game if these things get gimped out of proportions.

What annoys me to no end is that daggers > some swords that should own, right now.

Take the sylvan blades, for example. One is a khukri, the other's a scimitar.

They're equally deadly, but the khukri is both faster and more accurate.

If the list were built off real world weapons, which many of us would like to see, landys would not exsist. Some daggers ARE very superior to many swords, but that also takes a look at user skill.

No-Dachi has always been a two hander in SK, one-handed no-dachis just don't cut it.

An elaborately etched flamberge looks more accurate than a keen-edged no-dachi.

This needs reevaluated and the one handed no-dachi needs to vanish.

Flamberge and No-dachi should be equally accurate

Flamberge should be less lethal than No-Dachi

No-dachi should be slightly slower than Flamberge.

Both should remain a two-handed blade.
