What are you supposed to do in taunt situations?

Should you be able to make a single attempt to avoid combat(scripts, defensive buffs, etherealform etc)? Or not?

As it is now, taunt is probably bugged. There was a huge fuss from some players(and not only them) that with taunt you shouldn't be able to do anything to avoid combat. I'm pretty sure said players would also want to make etherealform not working while taunted(any form, casted, scripted, from devices), or even defensive buffs like spam casting stone skin for example. After all, if you are taunted, you are so mad that all you care about is fighting the swashie to the death, not trying to figure ways to slow down his damage output on your character so that the taunt duration passes by and you are free to flee/WoR out.

I'd like to see Dulrik's response especially, to know what is acceptable and what must be changed through code because obviously people are using things like that since the taunt change to get out of a cheap kill.

I'm just trying to understand the logic(lol?) behind this game.

Because as it is right now, it's totally inconsistent in many aspects of the game.

That's why I want to hear especially Dulrik's vision on the game. So I can then probably laugh at players and certain imms. :P

People have been escaping my charming spells all the time in the lamest way and get reported. I don't know if anything happens to them, though.

I think taunt is fine as it is. It's the one thing swashies get. It has saves. It can fail. It's based on stats vs stats. Swashes don't have anything else but that and finesse. I find it ok.

I'm not talking if taunt is fine or if it is not.

I'm talking about what should the taunt victim be able to do and what it shouldn't.

Because if we believe certain players and imms and accept their views, the one that gets taunted should have very few commands that he should be able to enter.

That's why I want to see Dulrik's views especially.

Is it really out of context for the game implementor to share with the playerbase his views on taunt?

So we can have it all written down and know what we are and what we are not supposed to do?

I'm doing this to avoid future complicated situations.

So please, if you have nothing constructive to add to the thread, stay out of it.

It is quite obvious. He hardcoded what he thought taunt should be, and his henchmen enforced it when there was a way to circumvent it.

This has been discussed through completely, here and elsewhere.

Really. Let it go.
