There are some class race combinations I have been tinkering with and some of them just plain don't work well at all. Dwarves for instance are great fighters, but if you play them as a paladin or hellion, the whole spell half of the classes skills are very hard to use, or even to maintain. How about giant warlocks not being able to conjure elementals until they age? I know when it was originally put in it wasn't serious, but I know I'd like to play one.

There are just several class/race combinations that although sound fun, mechanically are a nightmare to play. I was wondering if anyone else has found that the class/race combination that they wanted to try just turned out to be a big mess because the mechanics of the game just made it to hard to handle? I was also wondering if there ever was, or is going to be any reevaluation of how each class/race combination works, or more so doesn't work in this case?

I'd love to see more dwarf paladin/hellions running around, or a giant warlock here and there, but not being able to use spells like conjure elementals, or domination in some cases, take away from the draw of doing so, and I feel some rebalancing of the races in order to make more class/race combinations available will bring more diversity to the game. I just hate always feeling like I have to play a certain race in order to play a class I like affectively.

I think there was a short period in time where sprites could be barbs but that isn't going to happen anytime soon anymore. Unless we can convince D to make the hvy armor restriction a racial trait.

*bites tongue about breaking IC history of certain sprite alignments*

I'm not so much talking about new possible class/race combinations, but reevaluating the ones we already have. Like in my first example, a giant warlock would be a crap load of fun, but you can't summon an elemental because of it's int restrictions. Maybe the class/race issues don't need to be addressed, but the concentration effort needed on some spells do in order to allow for All the current class/race combinations to be able to use all their skills with out feeling penalized for playing a certain race.

Oh I know, I was simply making an assanine totally non helpful comment in relation to the topic of the thread.

This has been brought up several times in the past, especially the giant warlock issue. I remember Brad made a giant warlock and age deathed it just to prove a point. He wasn't able to summon an elemental with it until the second age tick. Even then he had to sit to accomplish the feat. Dwarven hellions/paladins are slightly more possible, they surely do have concentration issues, but any dwarf caster will have those problems, at least they -can- cast all their spells however. I was one of the people that pushed for dwarven/centaur paladins/hellions, I realized dwarves would have concentration issues when I suggested it, but it doesn't bother me much simply because an intelligent player -can- work around those issues.

That's not the case for giant warlocks summoning elementals. Well...it technically -is- possible but the circumstances are incredibly questionable, and certainly not viable all or even most of the time. That's a case were I'd just rather see them lower the concentration to summon an elemental.

I doubt it will happen however, nothing was done about it any of the other times it's been brought up, I don't see why it would be fixed now. Giant warlocks are just sort of a flair combination I guess.

There are several ways a Giant Warlock can summon an elemental before reaching second age tick.

You shouldn't have to depend on other peoples spells in order to summon an elemental. Specially when there is no guarantee that the person you depend on to help you out is going to be online. It's not really a fair option. Not to forget to mention that not every giant is dark aura'd, and that's where I'll quit talking about those spells.
