The name generator simple produces combinations of letters that sound wordly. You don't have to accept the very first result it gives you. You are supposed to roll it again and again for inspiration alone. It's not a solution, it's assistance.

And since we are on this discussion, and since it's already probably quite known who I am, when I created Gasbah, I thought I hit a really original name there, just to smash my own illusions by finding out that Gasbah is a reed, some African musical instrument from Morocco if I remember well; which is most ironic considering Gasbah was a bard.

Yea, I remember looking up the word Gasbah hehe and finding the same. However, the character made up for that quirk.

I think you should just use good sense.. Who really cares what your name is as long as it fits your concept? When I start a character I consider all the character creation elements and choose a name that fits my theme.

I would love if you guys would block names that have already been used.. I mean no offense but how many freaking Aidens, Rowans, and Elanders, do we have to have?

I still don't understand why Snuffles wasn't a good character name.

There is more than 1 Henry NPC that resides in Menegroth.

If someone asks me to block a name, I'll block a name.

EDIT: I don't see a second Henry in Menegroth. It might be implied, but there is only one person actually NAMED Henry.

I fully accept humans carrying common human names but don't enjoy nicks of common names. Nicks would be bad form.

I've said it before, I guess I'll say it again. If it is a name that was in common use anywhere between 0 AD to 1800 AD, then it should be fine. But yes, use the full name, not a nickname version.
