I've never had a problem with dirt kick to be honest, when I do get dirt kicked I find it a great time to take a quick nap in between fights.

Jennbo, it is about levelling actually. It's the only time you will grind NPCs and dirt kick will be annoying. Once you hit GM, you don't even get hit by NPCs that much anyway.

And I doubt the main issue is newbie schools anyway. I had chars with 8 DEX in newbie schools who got dirt kicked only once or twice the whole time I was there(gathering xp for 7+ levels each time).

People are probably wanting dirt kick to go away in areas like the Chancel for example(or Garazul or the gypsy camp etc). Guess what? The NPCs in the chancel are unarmed scouts. Dirt kick is the only thing they can do. No trip, no bash, laughable brawling damage. And even with their sick dirt kick success rates, these NPCs are still the best way to power level. If you take away that, you can just as easily hand over a big 6 level reward the moment you enter the area and get done with the boring kill &1 spam that will ensue, because dirt kick is the only thing these NPCs do anyway and if you take it away they are no better than practice dummies.

After all, take Demon's advice. If you get dirt kicked, take a short nap to regen ME/PE(because let's face it, you are not losing HP really).

I'm not saying that I support making dirt kick less effective because this will affect PCs as well.

If you don't want to suffer the consequences of getting dirt in your eyes then don't directly melee anything that can dirt kick. The chances of it succeeding actually go up if you are in direct melee.

Simple solution: Have your pet initiate combat. If you don't level with a pet, then get one. The only people that have a problem with dirt kick it seems are the old players who get the best gear at low levels and are your typical power levelers. I can understand being upset about dirt slowing down your super fast leveling but seriously get a pet and have it start combat so it gets dirted and not you.

That's not a solution. Sure, you can have your pet initiate combat, hell you can even have it dirt kick, but due to AI, the NPC is going to switch back to targeting you. In most cases this happens within two rounds or so.

Is dirt kick so annoying?

Do what you do when you fight necro, sorc or hellion NPCs who can blind you(and blindness lasts way longer than dirt kick). Trip/bash.

And quit crying.

Its been the solution for me yeah they switch back typically right before they die. Lets be honest while you're leveling you don't fight NPCs for very long they all die pretty quick.

Personally..I've been dirt kicked about 40-60% of my time training my character, it isn't fun, and for someone whose somewhat new around here, it really is depressing.
