Furthermore, if you are having huge issues with just plain moving around? Two words:

Buy

mounts.

As for combat I never had a problem with just plain fighting. However, yes if you are spamming bash/trip on NPCs you will have a tough time under the current system. They are no longer the insta-perfect spammable skills that they once were, however, you can still perfect them pretty quickly as your level raises the improvement chances.

Not moving around, just fighting.

It might be relevant that the char I am talking about is a swash. With dual wield extremely early and second attack following relatively early, that might be the issue - I stress again that the problem is primarily in low levels. Though PE remains the primary inhibitor even up until expert, which just seems wrong to me. The regeneration in relation to the numbers you regain of ME/HP is also very, very small.

I believe the slow regeneration rate you describe because low level characters already have a pretty large PE pool. The situation you describe seems pretty specific. Perhaps swashbucklers should get endurance sooner. I could also see griffons and sprites having some PE problems because of the extra attacks they get innately. Maybe there is a solution for these instances that will rely upon more PE than the rest of them until later on.

I think the problem is people spam dirt/kick/bash/whatever in the fights and thats why they run out so fast.

Dulrik has said that the sprite extra attack is PE free. The extra claw attack from griffons however isn't and IS a problem. It's also not about people spamming bash or whatever. Using bash once at low levels takes what, 5-10% all on it's own? So yeah, if you never use any skills you can kill NPCs using only 2-3% PE per NPC, which leaves all your skills gimped and makes fights boring as hell.

The cost of skills at low levels is prohibitively expensive and something should be done about it. I think allowing some PE regen during battle would makes things a lot better.

Scaling the PE cost of combat skills.

Hmm... I could probably remove the cost from the griffon free attack.

I have to question how much combat PE is a problem for lowbie griffons. I leveled one up to mid-Appentice without difficulty on that score. Fighter-types shift to weapons fairly quickly, magician-types use spells from the start, and cleric-types have refresh.

Where griffons have PE problems is moving in wind.

Everyone has PE problems of moving in wind, that isn't griffon specific.
