This is unproductive. I feel bolt is too fast casting and the !flee makes it too strong.

That was the topic, if bolt of glory needs tweaking, not if 'EVERYONE WAS LIKE GILGON ZOMG HE IS GOOD AT SK SO IF HE SAYS SO IT IS'

It's just not productive.

Someone's upset that he just died and lost all the eq he took from me in an afk kill, isn't he? :)

We had dozens of pages in past forum topics about necromancers being too powerful. I don't think you'll find many supporters who think that they are too weak.

My "evidence" was loads of logs posted in which one necro can wreak havoc. We all know that newbie necros will be forever owned by BoG - that doesn't mean BoG is too strong.

Necros are fine, they need to have huge weaknesses.

You're a jerk who does nothing but grief other people in game to prove how 'awesome' you are. its ppl like you that make this game unfun. Threatening them oocly, griefing them to try to get them to delete, etc.

that aside stop hijacking the thread this isnt about op necros this is about why bolt seems so op and at the same time so useless (against lots of mr).

You are crying in the wrong forum. Regardless, BoG is extremely powerful against people who don't heavily enchant themselves. This exists in order to compensate for the overwhelming power of necromancers. If bolt of glory were made weaker then necromancers would automatically become far, far stronger. This is a bad idea.

BoG has always been a delf killer, mix that with a low hp class and you will die taking 2 or 3 of the spells if you are not prepared. There are many tactics to prevent it. give wraiths back paralyze please

Bolt is kind of OPed.

Call Lightning is like WOW, that log was just WOW. Someone should be yelling about that spell.

Shattered Kingdoms - where tactics and BoGs collide.

That being said, the only problem I have with BoG is its ability to hit all deep-elves - it effectively removes deep-elf as an option for other classes than necros...

BoG is completely fine against necros though, because as has been mentioned, they are easily the most powerful class in the game. Despite your whining, this is relevant to this discussion. BoG can easily be avoided by most spell-casters, but other classes, such as rogues or mercenaries are completely screwed by it - and as such, noone will create a deep-elf of those classes. That is the primary problem with BoG, not idiot necromancers getting owned by it - it's a fine deterrent for newbie zergers.

Remove the fleeing or give some reduction to power, all three is quite over the top.

It isn't over the top at all. My character Olian was created to demonstrate that necromancers are, if anything, too strong already. Deep-elves take more damage from bolt of glory than do any other race - it's why you can only play deep-elf as a pk-competitive character if you keep a huge amount of enchantments on your equipment.

Necromancers are OP, take a look at a log instead of watching newbs die 3v1 and claiming it's unfair.

I am so sick of this "Necromancers are to leet argument", they are a teeny tiny shadow of their former power, yet people still complain that they are to strong. Necromancers have limits to undead armies, they can only hold so many till they cannot concentrate on other spells. Control undead is a huge concentration issue, they cannot solo guardians and never could after the "necros need to concentrate to keep their animated dead." If memory severs me it took over 100 undead to kill a guardian. Unless you have a log where it shows ONE necromancer and his or her undead soloing a guardian,

When you water down one class and then beef up the polar opposite of that class, and people still think the watered down one is to strong, then the players of the beefed up class should just delete and play something that suits their skill level, like Reader Rabbit. How fun would a game be if you played for hours and hours, got the best weapons, the best armor, and learnt the best spells; then you fight the final boss and kick his [REDACTED], you’re happy as all hell. The game lets you continue on because there are more missions and the such and you come across an angry bouncing ball level 35 (your 99). You go to fight it and in two rounds it completely destroys you. Would you be like oh well, I beat the final boss but that pesky bouncing ball beat me. No you would scream and stomp about think WTF I could own the most powerful thing in the game but this ball killed me? That is what it is like playing a GM necromancer.

My only suggestion to this BoG is this; it should be an elemental, e-drain like spell where you can only cast it once every 15 minutes. Being able to cast it multiple times in a row in the back of a small group is ridiculous.

Or give necromancers the enchant spells, so at least they have a chance at fighting off BoG’s.

Sigh. Everything has a counter. I thought the nimbus thing was, perhaps, a BIT of an unnecessary buff. But think about why it was put there... it's almost entirely because of necros, and how powerful they are.

There is no hijacking going on here. You can't talk about how OP a spell like BoG is without discussing the classes its intended to kill. And moreso than any other spell BoG is intended to kill VERY VERY specific people. This is the entire point and justification of its current power.

If you observe the OVERWHELMING power of the necro when he is fighting anybody without BoG then you'll understand why they need a serious "counter." Necros do extremely well in just about any battle except for specific cases.

Paladins on the other hand have a very narrow lane of the people they are good at killing. So that's why BoG is very effective. If you're only letting it effect these few categories, then it better be good. Whereas hordes of undead (or in another example, the hellfire spell) can kill just about anybody. In fact it isn't even that hard to kill a paladin if you do it right, as a necro.

Necros still have naked utility. Don't be silly. Against any non-paladins they are still horrifically dangerous opponents. But you can't expect them to be good against their counter (paladins) while naked. That's just unreasonable. Is it that twinkish to try and get some MR/reflex (is that the save?) to beat the paladin's 8 art BoG?

And just think about what happens when the necro does get those resists. Paladins just sit there and cry.

As for wands and etc., being able to use devices is an enormous benefit to any class. It's definitely one that requires knowledge... but when has the necro class -ever- been extremely newb friendly in that regard??? It's always been acknowledged that the class requires a fair amount of knowledge game-wise. And if you don't know where nice wands are, there's no time to learn like the present.

Necromancers are the strongest class in the game by far.

After. I have a few extra undead in these situations due to my access to wands that no longer exist, but halfling necromancers (even without the wand) can have 19 undead at a time.
