This is a broad spectrum request for casters. The concentration on most spells is rather high which forces people to go out and find tools wans/scrolls/staves to keep spells they could hold on themselves. Is there any way we can get concentration adjusted so we can hold our own spells, not saying anything about adjusting mana drain, but I would like to be able to hold san and spirit aura on my shaman while I sleep. It would be nice to hold my own detects and flys without needing to rely on outside stuff. So is there a way concentration for all spells could be looked at? The only advnatage I am asking is being self reliant on my own spell set.

While a good idea in theory, changing concentration risks further imbalancing casters and warriors.

I'd agree that some of the lesser spells could use lower concentration costs. That keeps them tactical options for higher-level casters.

But asking for sanctuary and spirit aura while asleep is asking for much more than that. High INT races get played for a reason. If you prefer other stats, expect to make some sacrifices when it comes to stronger spells.

The balance of many classes rely on the notion that if you hold up too many spells, things will disrupt your concentration (getting hit hard, getting taunted, frenzied, getting hit by multiple opponents, etc.)

By dropping concentration on spells you increase their effectiveness hugely by making the spells themselves harder to drop in combat, and also (I think?) use up less mana per tick.

What's the problem with dropping your spells while you sleep and recasting them when you wake up??? This is hardly troublesome for SA and sanc. A sham should not be complaining. Try playing a hellion for instance, who can't sleep while he holds dominate (unless he's a deep-elf... of course you pay a price for your high INT). Realistically speaking you can barely hold up anything BUT dominate as a hellion, but it's partially this way because things like DI potions are extremely easy to get, and other things like protect and shield can also be obtained. So life ain't so bad.

To say that these solutions (potions, herbs, devices) are unfair or something is absurd. I've read your other posts, and honestly, you can't expect to get through this game using just your skillset and spellset, learning nothing about the world and hope to be good. There is a point where hours placed into leveling increase your abilities, and a point where hours placed into exploring do. Explore. Learn. It's part of growing your abilities as a player in this game. It's a good thing. Getting to 50 is not the end of the road in terms of what you can learn and gain and improve.

I honestly don't even know that much about items and areas myself, but figuring out where certain things are is NOT difficult if you have to. Talk to other players. Get people to locate things, ask around, etc. People act like the only path to this knowledge is to go out there alone for hours and hours or something.

My need to be self reliant in the game. I rather use my own spells than rely on other stuff.

Then you will pay the compromise that comes with being completely self-reliant. *shrug* The severity of that is dependent on race/class, although if you're a shaman I'd say you don't have to worry about it much.

Sorry, but nowhere in the game does it state that you're supposed to be able to hold up every spell you possibly can and still do everything you want (like sleep, or have good mana regen, or fight several enemies, etc.). There's a cost and technique to everything. Maybe you don't WANT to learn or something, but getting detects and fly for instance is incredibly easy.

Regardless of class, not using these items certainly does not make you useless. But to be sure, you are encouraged to use them in order to be more effective. That is after all their purpose, and the reward for obtaining them. Why you have this "need," I'm not really sure.

I honestly think the concentration system currently is about perfect. I mean, seriously..any class with the wand skill, can get wands with 8 charges of DI or DH, at the price of a potion(or cheaper) for one wand, fly staves for 5 gold, etc...? Most of this stuff is store bought.

As for shamans. If you feel the need to have Sanctuary and SA up...you probably shouldn't be sleeping there(Inns aren't very safe). The comment about mana drain was silly, since spells like Sanctuary and Protection don't have a continual mana drain, they just cost mana to cast initially, and then you have to concentrate on them.

A hellion can sleep with domination at 22 int
