Buy a horse, get a charm, recite mirror image, put your horse behind you, charm in front, brandish flight. Hold an ethereal scroll in your hand. You're invincible.

Pfft. I was simply pointing out a flaw in his argument! He never mentioned charmies, controls/undead, or an elemental.

lol, all you have to do is shoot a NPC once and you are safe from backstab for two ticks. Also, necros and sorcs are perfectly capable of going 2nd row and covering their back at the same time, and warlocks have SS and ironguard.

If you set your wimpy high you can also just run from a backstab and completely save your [REDACTED]. And let's not forget that MI > bs, no matter what.

Taunt is much more efficacious and difficult to defend against, for basically every class. But this is all a given.

This thread isn't about backstab, however. And Gnimral, I have spam repeated that the absurdity of taunt is bypassing the safety of being in ANY row under ANY amount of cover and basically being screwed if you are unlucky enough to not have ethereal items. Why should a skill as effective as this have only that miniscule counter?

Honestly, my only problem with taunt is that the success rate is insane. All you have to do is catch somebody that isn't 100% prepped, and voila, dead.

Gimping the skill by making it land like 25-50% of the time just seems... meh. I would rather have something that you can reliably use, but that still stands in the realm of balance and doesn't scroo the PK field up.

Like I said before, have it require multiple taunts.

Or, make it required that you can only use it on people who are already in DIRECT combat with the swashie. No starting fights with it.

I think the skill would make a lot more sense like that. I mean really, what in the world can you say to me, that makes me want to kill you, unless we're already fighting?

Making it practically useless against spellcasters, as well as making the int gimp negiligible, which is the primary targets of taunts.

I disagree. EVERY CLASS, as it stands, is the primary target of taunts. Every intelligent player is in 2nd row unless he is planning on killing somebody himself.

Regardless, I don't think she's advocating removing the all-row effects. It's more like giving anybody a small window of escape at the start, after which, they are basically S.O.L

You can kill anyone with a variety of spells and skills that isn't 100% prepped.

Are you saying we should wimp everything that can muck you up outright?
