I am curious to know your opinions on these situations:

An elf polymorphs into a deep-elf, or vice versa, in order to go somewhere they normally could not. Does emnity preclude this? Should it? Is it something an elf or deep-elf could logically do? Is it okay for deep-elves but not for elves?

An elf charms a deep-elf, or vice versa. How can you roleplay out being charmed by someone who sickens you to your very core? Should charm person work the same when emnity is involved? How would you roleplay this situation?

If my elf has to go to Ch'zzrym she goes as a gnome. She would NEVER take the form of a deep-elf.

But that's just me. I don't really see that a deep-elf would have the same qualms about it as an elf. Probably not, in fact. They might tolerate it to infiltrate elven society and rip it apart from within.

As far as charming . . . I don't know. I generally avoid dealing with it. I'm not going to bother charming a deep elf. I'm going to kill it.

Well, in my opinion, first off, Polymorph is meant to hide the person's true form. If a deep-elf polymorphs into an Elf, then as long as they don't greet hte person, then the people shouldn't automatically have truesight and be able to see through the guise, provided they break any nasty habits they have. It's an RP tool to hide one's identity, but a lot of characters have innate true sight or such anymore..>.>

An elf charming a deep-elf or vice versa is...Interesting. It falls to the point that the charm would be absolute and they view their master as the best thing since sliced bread, in which case, enmity should go out the window until the spell is released in my opinion. Like D said, it's a kin to brainwashing. (I think he said that.) So they would literally forget they hated said individual until the spell lapses.

I'm pretty much with Ilky on this one. If your an elf or a deep-elf and you get charmed by the opposite race, the game should pretty much just delete your character on the spot.

I play an elf, and recently have had encounters similar to the first you described and exactly like the second.

1) My character didn't actually know the polymorph (a human) was a deep-elf until it showed its form, so I treated it as I would any human. I knew it was dark aura, so my char was a bit wary, but no more so than he would be around any dark aura.

2) I choose to RP enmity more or less as it is described in the help file. My character actually rarely refers to a deep-elf as such, and definitely never as a person. That said, he recognizes their power, sentience, and capability to deceive others into thinking they are good. When he was charmed I treated it as (more or less) total physical control along with control over certain aspects of thought/brain function. He was confused and enraged by both, but there's no way he would EVER think of a deep-elf as a friend or even a master. Instead it was just a hated enemy who happened to have control over him.

I think there's probably different ways other people could go about this, but that was mine.

I've been charmed by Ealuriel (WHO HASN'T!?!?!?!) and I think we both RP'd it "appropriately" but I'm saying Caeserea doesn't charm people to begin with. I think I used it 1 time on a PC, and it got screwed up (thanks, Urgul) - so she doesn't.

I'm not going to do it. I'm not going to QQ if someone else does it. But from an IC stance . . . it's a deep-elf. Why do I want it hanging around?

Yeah. I was obedient and such to Ealuriel, but I wasn't swooning over her. I agree.

Not sure I know what you mean, here. I can't personally see a time when an elf would charm a deep-elf. The reverse, though, seems nearly likely -- and I don't think you should have to delete just because your character fails a saving throw, if that's what you mean.

I think I could justify charming a deep-elf if my char wanted to pump information out of it, but only if it was of utmost importance. I wouldn't go to charm as my instawin spell when fighting a deep-elf, for the same reason you said. I'm not sure I'm really a huge fan of it being used as the go-to killing spell in any circumstance--mechanics wise I think I understand why it's being used in that way, but from an RP perspective it doesn't make much sense to me. And I'm definitely not sure how I feel about Ealuriel running around charming/torturing every semiactive light aura in the game. Despite how well RP'd most of those encounters have been, there's something just sort of wrong to me about it from a more "global" perspective. I know it's the lightie player's responsibility to do something about it, but if every important lightie is getting carted off and [REDACTED] up, it just seems sort of weird.

I am both sarcastic and slightly cynical. I was being entirely light-hearted. As a rule of thumb, whenever I throw out a rather ridiculous idea like the above, take it with a grain of salt.
