The only situation I could see an elf polymorphing into a deep-elf in is in a killing mission, and one that doesn't involve actually pretending to be a deep-elf in anything other than looks. After all, actually acting like a deep-elf would violate their ethics straight to the core.

I'm not going to do it. I'm not going to QQ if someone else does it. But from an IC stance . . . it's a deep-elf. Why do I want it hanging around?

Your INT drops and your eyes glaze over. They have contorl of your mind, it is no longer what you want to do, so far as attempting to resist what you are told to do. To resist is one thing, to act on your own is another. You are essentially their mind slave, IMO.

Hey. I get it. The question wasn't "why would I want to RP properly if I was charmed by a deep-elf?" . . . it was "why in the hell do *I*, as an elf, want to charm a deep-elf? do I actually want to hang out with this wretch?"

I am against the insta-enemies=pk. Or the justification that any player is PKd purely on race. Hopefully elves and deep-elves can RP with one another. I haven't played either so I wouldnt know.

Uh... make up a reason. I'm sure anyone with an imagination can figure out a reason as to why they would charm a deep-elf as an elf. Maybe the elf wishes to purify the deep-elf? Imaginations are awesome.

When it comes to enmity between elves and deep elves, imaginations is a bit constrained.

It's a game rule that Elves and Deep Elves have a hatred so deep, so profound, that were SK a sci-fi world we would have identified a Gene for it. The kind of gene that once removed, it turns an elf or delf into a half-elf :P

Beyond that, it is perfectly acceptable to be civil towards your enemy. Hating the very essence of another race doesn't necessarily mean acting all stupid about it. But, in suzie's example I'd much rather charm -any- other race to have around as my charmie, than a Deep Elf. Just being next to one should take a great effort from the character not to lunge at their throat.

Consider it a sort of uhm... bikini wrestling. Only without the mud and the women, but with frail aloof fey creatures instead.
*nods*

As for imagination, it's fine and well as long as it's done within the confines given to you by your game master, which in this case is the immstaff and the help files they've written on how some things should be acted out.

Sorry if it sounds all negative to you, but the concepts of evil elves, or neutral deep elves (imagine, not good, but neutrals!) is a dead horse that has been beat up so badly, there's not any skin left.

I too have experienced this recently and I see nothing wrong with either side, provided you have the motivation in your RP and it follows the guidelines provided by the enmity rules. With my elf, I chose for her to be afraid and resentful. Elves are taken hostage and imprisoned pretty often by their counterparts it would seem though, so it is just sort of like a fear all elves should have I think.

You have reading comprehension issues. I don't choose to charm ANYONE with my character. I don't have to "use my imagination" to come up with a reason to do something against my character's ideals.

I used my imagination to come up with a sorceress who isn't dependent on the charm spell.
