I thought it was deep-elfs that got a buff. Just because one race got a buff doesn't mean the professions is broken ( in the not over power way but the needs fixing to be balanced way).

Again, people are releasing undead to get their full HP pool, scripts, and tracking.

The control code turns these abilities off, necros releasing the undead to get these scripts back should be considered a bug.

They are working their way around the code.

Necromancers have been beaten over the head far to often, they are more or less hated by just about every class, race, profession, and almost all the cabals. If they have to do a control and release when their foe is close so that the undead is using its full potential then D should take a step back and look at why necromancers have to do it. If they do it in a city which is an abuse then report it and they will be punished (D as far as my memory goes states specifically if necromancer released controls in cities they will be punished and their control undead spell will be removed from their spell list).

Who says they HAVE to do it?

I didn't say they were broken, I said they got buffed. Before the code update there were two, maybe three decent necro races from a PvP perspective: halfling, deep-elf (for int), and maybe sprite. Deep-elves' buffs to CON, INT, and WIS, coupled with the buff to 25 INT and enhanced even more by the light penalty nerf, made deep-elves, in my opinion, far outshine the other races in almost every aspect for a necro. The fact that MR now provides healing makes an MR necro even more appealing, regardless of race. So yes, necros got a huuuge buff this update.

Uncontrolled undead aren't even better than controlled undead. If you think about it releasing undead is pretty much a desperate tactic, walking in and ordering a sessprian to bash someone upfront is obviously a more effective way of ganking someone. Releasing undead is just something a necro would do if they were [REDACTED] because of something else in the fight or if they are just trying to harass you. The moment they release those undead they are vulnerable to enemy attack, even if they are behind a few controls or pets they wont last more than a few rounds if anyone targets them, and they can't move at all because they are obviously outlawed. when this tactic is used against people who are familiar with survival in sk the necro will just end up by himself with some [REDACTED] protection and word of recalling well before he is able to collect any corpses or loot if there even is any to go around.

As far as claiming necros do this to avoid getting outlawed I think that's a stretch. Your going to get outlawed and your going to get banished if your a necro, even as a harly necro all the lighties cities will attack your undead on sight. I don't really think necros worry about getting outlawed as much as say a sorc charming agro npc's or a priest using charm scrolls because in reality by using undead they start outlawed in all the lighty cities and often aren't welcome in the empire at all.

Enchanting for MR does not provide enough healing to be of significant benefit.

No "I" said they are broken, I never said that you did. You are correct in that it was the deep-elfs that got the boost. However deep-elfs have more then one profession to choose from. Priests and sorcs got a huge boost as well by your logic.

I actually think this should be allowed since Necros are killed on sight by most classes and getting into a town with undeads isn't trivial...
