I'd like to request that you use the term CDO, that way the letters are in alphabetical order... like they should be.

Still no numbers here. How many hours, seriously, for an enchanted suit?

I'm with Edoras hardcore on this one. This was admittedly almost two years ago, but I did, in fact, time how long it took to enchant my suit, bottom-to-top. On a sacred suit that came with four enchantments already on it that spawned every twelve minutes after junking, it took approximately thirty-forty minutes per piece to get seven balanced enchants. From a standpoint of probability, I should have had a 51.2% chance of getting three non-MR enchants in a row, excluding the possibility of evaporation and fading (hardly uncommon occurrences). To add to this, MR seems (or seemed) to carry a definitively stronger weight among the five stats.

To get seven enchantments per piece (on a kit in which eight pieces started with four), it would generally take me three-four hours with the help of a bard (my character was lucky enough to be married to one), or six-seven hours alone. In my more aggressive stages (as I found that seventy-eighty total enchants was not enough) I would put place ten enchantments on my sacred pieces, eight on the others. This would usually take about twelve-fourteen hours total to accomplish.

Anyone that says enchanting is fine as it is hasn't a [REDACTED] clue. It sucks. It's a prime example of a pointless grind.

You guys are really, really geeky to chart and time enchantments and spawn time.

Using sacred eq as a basis for your enchanting arguments is silly. Sacred eq enchants horribly(god damn, a free suit of energy eq isn't enough to make you happy?). Why do you think most of the people with the amazing enchants...uh...aren't wearing sacred eq?

Yeah, sacred armor is about the hardest EQ in the game to enchant. It doesn't take nearly that long to enchant any sort of non sacred gear to 6 or 7 nice enchantments.

I experienced no difference between sacred eq and normal eq beyond the innate difficulty of enchanting stuff with multiple stats on it already. I did my fair share of enchanting mounds of mithril skins and addy, and the only disparity I noticed was in quality caps. Some pieces of eq have a very low quality cap, making it practically impossible to add more than 4-5 enchants to the piece without evapping. On a related note, the hematite bracelets I used started as average quality and caught MR over half the time until about two rounds of fading it, getting the quality up to superb. Getting one of those with 6 good enchants generally took about 45 minutes.

hehe i have managed 18 on a ring... but that was incredibly time consuming.. at one time i had 17 saves on almost all of the Dabi sared suit wth sephini, that took about i dont know 35 hours im guessing! the worst thing about doing things like that is having it junked or what not! but having enchanting slightly easier in the beggining would not bother me.. even with easily atainable +5 on everything with no MR it would not make much of a differnce, when i play a fighter i really dont expect anyone to want to try enchanting anything more than that. and to get a SICK suit it would still take a SICK amount of time. ..just my three cents! :drunk:

:edit the ring was ivory and started level 5.. random random random!!!

When I played Hotepsunum I could get 7 enchants on Dabi's sacred armor with no problem it took maybe 1-2 hours to finish the whole set. I think enchant is fine and people should have to work a bit for their enchants just to keep things balanced.

I'm learning as I go with enchanting, but I've just noticed that it's really streaky for me. I'm sure it's all in my head but as demon will attest to, sometimes I have nights where I can put a fair number of quality enchants on things, and other nights its just MR and evaporation after one cast. I usually just stock up on things I'm thinking of enchanting and go to town on it once I get on a hot streak, I guess the only time I'd find it annoying was if I knew where to get super rare stuff that I also wanted to get highly enchanted.
