Since, you stop gaining xp when limbs are hacked off. No one should ever set aim for anything but aim upper. I can't even try to count how many times I have cut off both arms in the same round. It is too risky to lose valuable xp if in one round of attack you stop gaining xp. It really should be explained in the help files that if you hack off limbs you don't gain xp.

Muktar did you actually read any of the preceding posts? You only lose XP when arms are hacked off, not legs. Aim upper is NOT the optimal selection for gaining XP. Go back to read the reason why.

Meh, aim mid isn't really enticing either (On account of the fact that you stop gaining experience if you cut off your opponents arms), and who wants to go around training with aim lower? That just looks depressing.

Maybe if after you lopped off a NPCs legs it would randomly say "It's just a flesh wound!" it would be worth doing.

Yes, I did. The main advantage of aiming mid was TOO hack off their arms to limit their dmg output. Unless the spawning rate absolutely sucks in an area and/or there is only a very small number of NPCs to kill, it will be better for you to aim upper because you will end up taking less dmg. Unless you are afraid of being tripped, bashed, dirt kicked, the amount of downtime you will have because you have to rest because you are hurt will be make the whole point of aiming low meaningless.

Wow, not too often you learn something new after 10 years of playing.

I had always thought that you received experience based on the percentage of a NPC's HP you damaged, so that if you hit it in the head you'd get the same amount of XP per NPC and kill it faster.

Given that's not the case, and that total number of HP damage is how the XP is being calculated, it does seem like either aiming lower or doing mode stun with your pet on mode kill would be the best "low maintenance" way to go. If you really wanted to maximize like D said you could switch around to different target areas to get even more. That is, unless there are so many NPCs around that you don't have to worry about the spawn rate. Then might as well kill them faster for the gold.

Thanks everyone for your help in this thread. I've always wanted to become a leveling twink.

Next: scripts and triggers for insta-PK!

I tested aiming lower versus aiming upper way back when I leveled Arsilan. If there is even a bonus to it, it is clearly not noticeable.

I would agree that the chest area is the optimal area to attack but only spellcasters can take advantage of that.
