It's easy, they spread rewards around to different players, making sure they never sum up enough to be paragons themselves. This way they receive the bonus points and they don't help someone actually become a paragon. Not to mention that among those various players are other paragons who will reward them back.
I think this post needs to be addressed quite seriously. With all of the hawk-eyed immortals patrolling our enlights, this IS an issue - your sarcasm aside.
Let's say that every time I RP with Saxia, she is consistently well roleplayed. So, I wait a couple days and give her a medium enlight. Then, twice in that same month she does something completely brilliant. Should I go ahead and reward her with -anything- at that point I run the risk of scrutiny. It's certainly not a malicious and scheming plot (on my part anyway!) to keep PAR for myself and away from others. I just don't want to be conceived as breaking any rules. Generally, my rule is that my stellar RPers can expect a medium enlight once a month from me.
Rewarding PARs is a weird issue. MOST of the PARs deserve their flags, from any interaction I've spent with them. I'd love to have enlightened Ralina or Aneria half a dozen times. But, generally speaking, I simply won't reward other PARs, again in an attempt to follow the rules in place.
