So, I noticed that both Griffons and Giants both get horrible charisma. They are also the races that usually get an XP mod on other muds.

Question: Is there an XP modifer based on race, if so perhaps it should be lessened slightly on these races and any other races that may have a positive modifier of some kind, while having low charisma.

The venerable age of the race. Both the ones you mentioned don't live long.

How many other muds have a Griffon player race? That used to be pretty unique to SK. I suppose after 15 years anything can become common.

A few other MUDs use griffons as a remort race - sort of a bonus for replaying the levelling game. Naturally, remort races have better raw stats/abilities. It's not clear they actually play differently from humanoids, which is what attracted me to SK's griffons. (I remember playing a phoenix in another game, wearing a helmet and using a regular sword. Sigh.)

I know one MUD that forces everyone to play monsters, and it does realize griffons and other flyers nicely. But aside from this, it's a very low quality MUD. It's essentially a free add-on to a pay game site, and the priorities show.

Half-griffons are more popular, as your basic winged-human race. I think at least a half-dozen MUDs call their winged-humans by that name.
