I think if you gave necromancers a big pole and put them on a high wire, the only choices they would have would be to become balanced or fall to their death.

On a side note, I don't think necro's are "over"-powered per say. I agree with the assessment that they are probably the most powerful class in the game, but I figure, one class has to be, and necro's still have several counters.

The log/instance that spawned this discussion just now was a flaw in CRS, not in class balance.

Agreed. Undead need to spawn guards in CRS.

After reviewing all the complaints here, I am in favor of making finger of death have a 10% chance to permanently delete pfiles.

And giving necromancers final strike.

This was my suspicion too...

Agreed. The final strike must also have a 99% chance of deleting pfiles as well. (Edit: Just for necros though. :P )

Clearly 90% of the people posting here are [REDACTED]. I'm sorry, Necros aren't suppose to be the class that fights 5v1 anymore than mercenaries, swashbucklers, and barbs are, -maybe- in the past they were suppose to be, but that was when leveling a necromancer took 5x as long and only the absolute best players would even attempt it. Now necromancers are just as easy to play as any other class as illustrated by a sub par player like Arafiel having success with them. Now that necros are just as easy if not easier to play than other classes they should be just as strong as them.
Necromancers should take literally six times as long to level and all their spell/skills should be hidden away in places 99% of people haven't ever reached, to reflect how absurdly jacked they are. Algon's idea is solid, it means you get 6 wraiths and 2 controlled undead. Necromancers will still be hands down the best class in the game, just not retardly so. I mean call me crazy but I think that 30 hits a round is enough for one class.
I mean i'm fine with it taking 3-5 players to kill a necromancer as long as necromancer's take 6x as long to level, require deep knowledge of the game, and take huge amounts of skill to play. If that doesn't happen then Necromancers should be just as strong 1v1 as any other class(even weaker than Algon proposal of giving them only 30 hits a round rather than 200.) With 30 hits a round it's still going to take 2 people to fight a necromancer safely, and thats with the right classes.

If your a necromancer though and you don't think you will be able to cut it with 30 attacks a round then i'm sorry, your a trash player. The rest of us are tired of having to rally large groups just to fight one player that happens to be playing an overpowered class. No, it's not fun. No, it doesn't generate great rp. The only bad side affect of this change that I can think of is that paladins will now actually be able to go out and battle necromancers in epic 1v1's rather than having to surround themselves with priests and mercenaries to even have a chance. Because every(necromancer)one knows that it's more fun and cool for paladins to gather massive groups to avoid being -literally- 1 rounded by necros(the class they are designed to beat but need four other people to have a chance against.) Seriously the gist of this thread is absolutely hilarious, it's essentially necromancers saying "Dude necromancer's are balanced, if you get a group of 2 mercenaries, 2 paladin's and a priest they are a joke to beat"

Im not convinced either way. On one hand, necromancers do have some glaring weaknesses but on the other hand, I have seen them just destroy people no matter what. Ethereal wands is a great boon to then but nothing stops a priest or rogue from using and ethereal scroll. Hw will acually pull a necro from ethereal anyways.

Paladins, I would say just stand behind your horse and HW, but thats not always viable. I played a paladin once and I raped a few necros but at the same time there were some who I just couldnt take on.

I want to see logs of vets taking on a necro 1 v 1 and winning other than with a scout or rogue.
