Utility (optional) - low-level NPCs to resize, cast invis and fly. I really do like these being in the game because oftentimes there are no sorcerers around to do those things, and fly and invis are INCREDIBLY useful for leveling (try getting to the pirate galleon or something without it, sorry you can't)

That's unfortunate, then. You should try finding more friends, or wait until they're around. Alternatively, rely on potions for things such as fly and invis.

Can't find potions for that? Ask your friendly neighborhood builder to put some in somewhere. Pets should not replace classes.

In particular, pets shouldn't make newbies pointless. Go find newbie sorcerers who will cast the basic utilities like resizing for you.

This relies on a large playerbase where all classes are available. I haven't seen one of those is a good 3-4 years.

As for potions...those are great except the average newbie doesn't go around with several obsidian on them to buy enough to get on and off the ship (and other places like it). People that are experienced with the game COULD go farm the money by selling stuff...but are we really trying to drive away new players? Also invis potions? I don't think I know of any. One pill, but no potions.

Also waiting for people to log on to level with? GREAT idea, let's make leveling even SLOWER by making you HAVE to level with others ...I might also notice that classes level at vastly different speeds and so even if you leveled together one would outpace the other VERY fast.

Oh yeah, I forgot we were playing PK BLASTERMUD 20XX, a MUD where you PK first and then use the teabag command repeatedly on your fallen opponent. Surely we're not playing SK, a game where roleplay is supposed to come before randomly walking into places and ganking others!

My apologies.

Your sarcasm aside, this is indeed a large part of how this game is played. It's decent of you to stand against it, but that does not change the realities of the game.

You should try playing on off-peak hours. Like when the who list is a whopping three people, and one is sporting a title that would be directly antagonistic to your RP. After your previous sacrastic blast about RP being so important, you aren't seriously suggesting someone break it just for the ability to play the game, are you? Of course you couldn't possibly be doing that.

This would also depend on a large, active, and receptive staff. Oh, and building projects that actually get finished.

I hadn't even posted an actual opinion about the topic of this thread. I merely postulated what would have to happen if another person's suggestion were to become reality. Unfortunately, OA has such a violent reaction to anything I say, he reads what he wants into it.

But if you ARE wondering about my opinion, it's similar to what Marfik already stated (not surprisingly because the staff has talked about this problem in the past). Better building standards are definitely needed, they've just never made it to the top of the priority list in the past.

EDIT: Clarifying what Marfik said about what types of pets should be allowed, not necessarily that you should have to have friends.

How's this for a solution: a spell-caster based resizing solution directly available from the Torrum Arcana. More expensive than normal resizing, but will do the job for you no matter what item you bring, since it's magic-based.

Base the price on the character's level and that should work. But still does not solve the fly/invis problem for new characters. High level/experienced players have no trouble getting money. Those who need the stuff to LEVEL, do have trouble.

You're wrong. And I didn't say opinion, I said argument. Saying that people should place more emphasis on grouping with others to "fountain RP" in an inn, in a conversation about the mandatory status of being grouped with a pet, is an argument. It is also everything else I called it.

Once again, it's very warm-and-fuzzy-making, but it ignores the realities of the game and how it's played by 70% of the pbase. Change that, and I'll get behind this "nerf" to a currently-mandatory function of the game. Until then, all you're doing is making it next to impossible to play and enjoy roughly half the classes in SK.

EDIT for refocus: And it still doesn't address the fact that there are a relatively significant number of people who play off-peak hours, who do not have the option of relying on PCs.

Speaking of sarcasm. Gee, wouldn't it be swell if one could make a forum post about a fact of the game that every single player knows to be true, and not even state an opinion on the matter, without being subsequently talked down to like an imbecile six-year-old.

:edit: Noo, heaven forbid that the forum administrators should do anything to encourage a somewhat civil and decent tone in a discussion that was important to the game.

NO U.

Honestly, OA, you are reading more into it than was intended. Partly due to your feelings, and partly because there was discussion earlier in the thread that I had read a day earlier which used examples that I wasn't considering when I made my post. But be honest with yourself and realize that you jump eagerly on any chance to take me down.
