I've always wondered why it is that Knuckles do not work with wild fighting? Shouldn't both knuckles and claws work with wild fighting, yet just modify the damage they do instead of making it so in order to use wild fighting you have to have a specific weapon or no weapon at all?

I'd like to see it changed so that barbs can use either claws or knuckles for wild fighting, or at least hear an explanation as to why wild fighting requires a specific weapon over brawling.

While we're on the subject, can somone please explain to me about how important mastering self defense is if you plan on learning brawling?

I mean, you can't learn it anymore, right? And does it play any part in unarmed combat after you've learned brawling?

Thanks.

Sounds logical to me.

Self defense determines the chance to hit with unarmed attacks, the other two unarmed skills do not. Self defense also allows you to use regular knuckles.

Brawling increases damage and adds a second attack, and allows you to use spiked knuckles.

Wild fighting increases damage again, adds a third attack, allows for the use of claw weapons, and makes you hard to be parried while unarmed.

Is brawling with spiked knuckles even any good? Seems like a waste pretty much as there is no reason to ever use it.

Yeah, knuckles are a complete joke. The only time that you might even want to use knuckles (besides cool/weird RP scenarios?) would be... maybe if you wanted to fight a swashbuckler? But I have a feeling that brawling doesn't even ignore eparry like wild fighting does, so you'd really just be turning your attack into crap and making eparry hurt your hands. Knuckles are there just to... be there. It makes sense that knuckles would exist, just not that anyone would ever use them if there was another option.

There's a reason there's only like 3 brawling weapons in the game.

Wild fighting is the only skill that advoids eparries. I've been playing around with hand to hand stuff the past couple days, and even with wild fighting claws the damage is weak, you lose AC and any magic protection enchants, and it seems almost not worth the effort to use hand to hand. Even if I can break through eparries, it seems that I'm still better off with a shield and sword when fighting a swashbuckler. I think hand to hand combat needs some reworking, specificaly for barbarians. I'd like to see barbarians, other then griffons, be able to fight hand to hand and still do some serious damage.

Wild fighting claws, if you're buffed and hit fury, eat through swashbucklers like a hot knife through butter. It's honestly wrong enough to make any swashie want to rage delete.

Even though they get past swashbucklers, and high accuracy spec'd mercs, they are entirely situational weapons. They should be decent reguardless of who you fight, and in my opinion follow the same mechanics of a two handed weapon, but do slightly less damage since they get a third attack. It just seems silly to me on how bad most of these weapons are when using them.

They're not bad, generally. Furied they get 3-4 attacks and they do decent damage. They're HORRIBLE for defense, though, on account of the fact that they're unparryable and you can't wear a shield (or gloves, even).

They're perfect barb weapons: Bleed and make your opponent bleed more.
