That wouldn't work because droids are posessions, and people can't be persuaded to let go of even a cloth shirt, let alone a complicated piece of electronics and machinery.

I'm pretty sure that's EXACTLY what pursuade should look like.

There's a few things wrong with that scenario as regards persuade.

First, the other troops would see "Obi Wan persuades Storm Trooper 1 to say 'We don't need to see his identification.' " Thereby making it clear that the storm trooper was being controlled.

Second, even if his buddies were stupid enough to miss that, Obi Wan uses persuade...what, four times in a row there? Even at mastered, the second (probably) and the third (definitely) attempt would have caused the trooper to just start blasting holes in his face at point blank range.

Third, he doesn't even break a sweat. That many uses of persuade would probably take about 40% of his mana. No way could he just pull that off with ease.

Fourth, the trooper is still being persuaded to overlook material possessions, which is impossible. Material possessions in SK are more important than anything, doanchaknow, and therefore are immune to even magically-backed persuasion.

Yeah, that video shows exactly how I think persuade works in SKs. It's a rather magical way a bard has to persuade people, just as his songs are magical. He is not a common singer, he is more than that.
