Syn, you sit in Teron's inn with a certain elf sorceror all the time and shoot the crap, I don't want to hear it. I've seen it multiple times now.

[REDACTED] off and die.

Thank you.

I've charmed her like half a dozen times, and killed her once.

I mean, god damn Demon, if you really want, I can PK the newbie into deletion.

I'm not defending one way or the other, but the filters here obviously aren't working... I take more offense to the word Syn just used than some of the others.. I know, I'm such a boring square.

I agree. I find the word G*d to be offensive as well and approve it being censored. Boring squares, unite!

Also, Emnity is rather annoying and a large contribution to why I never play elf/drow.

You're putting words in my mouth. Where in this entire thread have I mentioned anything about PK? I simply posted the help files for people to read and interpret.

From time to time, yes. This is actually my second favorite text-based game, you know.

What if he doesn't know the deep-elf and the deep-elf lies?

HUH???

If I were and elf and got tricked into something so disgusting for my people, I would instantly try to take back the life I gave.

The analogy of green beans implies that: Any time you see a deep-elf you should respond as if that particular deep-elf killed your entire family.

How else are you going to respond to that, except by fleeing their presence in every situation, closing your mind to them every time they try to speak to you, or killing them?

If there's only one flavour of enmity, and it's always the most virulent, as is implied and outright stated in this thread, then there can BE no interaction between elf and deep-elf other than one ending in death.

The comment about needing to "witness" the enmity is also a valid point. Other people don't often see roleplay that is confined to tells. It's much easier to applaud someone for killing a deep-elf than to consider a much longer term roleplay that is not so blatantly obvious.

In a world where there are thoughtful and rational minotaurs, well-spoken and intellectual giants, and half-elves accepted in both elven and human society, I think it's a little strange to single out elves and deep-elves as creatures who have no ability to rise above their own natures, even temporarily, even over something as important and basic as religion. I accept that this is the case, however.

Again, you have too much "kill" in your mind. I have seen excellent interactions between elves and deep-elves that were pure examples of enmity RP, and very few of those ended in a kill. Don't forget that as evil as deep-elves may be, sylvan elves are excessively proud. Which means that as much compassionate they may try to be, they will be at least arrogant towards a deep-elf. First of all, because deep-elves, no matter what they may claim, in the mind of a pure elf they have never shown or are able to show any form of compassion. It's them who killed entire races of elves in the history, it's them that are still weaving evil plans against their people and the light in general. Elves are certain that deep-elves can not be for good - ever.

My 2-year-old human says screw your enmity, he has iron arrows.

To be honest, enmity is harder on elves. Deep-elves can cozy up to elves and sweet-talk them all they like, because they know it'll make the elf comfortable. Sometimes, acting like bosom buddies is the best way for a sadistic deep-elf to play enmity. Elves don't have that luxury; they have to react. Lots of credit to all elf players out there. To me, it's the hardest race to RP properly.

Okay, so they take a close second to sprites.
